Whats the typical life span on them? My Duster has been together for ten years now and I've never changed the MSD wires. Lately I've noticed that one plug was dark and fuel smelling compared to all the others. So today I made a new wire from some left overs and now the plug looks great just like all the others. Just wondering if more are going to start going dead and if maybe over the winter it'd be worth it to purchase some firecores? Also, I'm catching flack about the wire length from my dad. I agree they maybe a little long but he's adamant they need to really be shortened because of resistance. Thanks

My Taylors are at least 13 years old.No problems except they look dingy.Ill probally replace them this spring.Length does affect spark a bit.If you have a good ignition and wires it pretty much wont matter unless you ar running something like top fuel.I believe the wires you have have pretty low resistance.Rocky

Contact MSD tech. for the ohm rating per foot for your wires and test them with a ohm meter Another quick and dirty way to make a decision is to run the car at night in a dark area with the hood opened and see if you can notice any elecrtical leaking from the wires, it will glow or flash if they are Let us know what you do BTW, I wipe mine off with a rag with Mineral spirits on it to clean the gunk off of them
