Your not the first person to have trouble making a 600 eddy run right!

I had one once on a cammed 318 did everything recurved dizzy step up spring kit jetting hard to get an nice idle and power surged a cruise.
Holleys worked fine on the same motor??

Sold it to a friend and we but it on a box stock 318 just an intake to fit the 4 barrel and it ran perfect???

Maybe eddy should state these are for box stock engines only???
Who knows
Think some are worse than others??

But we made two of them work on my buddies 440 edelbrock 2 x 4 intake and later on a cross ram???

Alex, check the total timing revved up until it stops advancing, make sure it isn't any higher than 34 to 36 degrees BTDC. Most Mopar SB with iron heads like between 30 and 34 degrees total adavnce, depending on the gas and altitude your driving in You may find that your distributor can be adjusted internally to limit the total advance by shortening up the slots that the mechanical weights that advance the rotor can travel in I like to see around 16 to 18 degrees at idle and 32 to 36 degrees total on my Mopar BB and 426 Hemi motors, 30 to 32 degrees toatl on the SB Mopars I build and tune IHTH I use the weakest springs I can buy for the weights in the distributor, Mr Gasket sells some really weak ones for Chevy distributors that work real well in our distributors

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I've been running and changing the tuneup because I take it to other areas of the country and drive it with a 1405 600 for over 20 years now.

With a big cam it's needs plenty of timing and weak springs so the neddles stay down at idle. I think I'm running the weakest springs, but I'm not sure until I look at my notes.

Cab Bruge, I'll sure check that out tomorrow, Thanks, Alex

Anyone interested in a 600 eddy? Never been on the street more than 10 minutes.

Had me at a loss a 600 holley vac with a 5.5 power valve ran perfect. 3310 holley 5.5 power valve vac seconds ran perfect and with that the little 318 ran 15.74 street tires through the exhaust in a 78 D100. even my 800 DP with 5.5 power valve ran perfect on it??
In the end had the lightest step up springs and timing all in by 1200.
put a 800 thermo bog on it was a little testy but never played with the step up springs it sure liked it a full throttle but the 600 holley was nice and smooth so that's what lived on it the most!

It was a long duration cam (erson of some size I measured the duratoin 0 to 0 at 305??) did not know enough to do @.050 way back then. 318 with 360 heads was about 7 to 1

If you changed the cam and lifters and the motor had original pushrods, the pushrods are probably 1/8" too long. Chrysler changed the length of pushrods in '68 or '67, because of a higher seat location in the lifter. I had the same problem in a '66 383 several years ago.

Plum bad, I checked the pushrods and the are the newer ones. When I went to put them back in I bent one of the rods. Just ordered a new set from summit. comp brand
