Hello together

I search pictures an details from the stock sixpackengines, shortblock assembly. Does anybody has pictures of original shortblocks, maybe with a piston on the top position. Does anybody measured the distance from the top piston position to the blocks deck height?

They also had different connecting rods.....And crankshafts....And harmonic balancers....And...

All of which would not be likely to show up on a pic of the short block. His post was mainly asking about pistons...

The Balancer is obvious from twenty feet...The rods are obvious if the pan is off...

I have a Sixpack 69 1/2 and the friend of mine got a 70, thats why both are interesting for us. The most important point is: how do they come on a C/R 10.5:1...

at least you have the better of the 2 engines.the 69 sixpack is faster and lighter.i think the 70 intake is heavier then the whole 69 engine. the 70 sixpack and the hemi is what dragged these cars down.more for looks then speed and performance.

That's the RATED compression ratio they weren't actually that high .

where is this information from, do you have pistonpics?




70 the piston is a flat top and has 4 valves reliefs , it should be about .020 below the deck

69 is a flat top NO VALVE reliefs and will be about .040 below the deck

I don't mean to be a stick in the mud but have you never seen a flat top piston ???

Here , I heisted this from another thread , it's not an original piston but this is what a 70-71 6pk piston looks like , the 69 piston is the same WITHOUT the 4 notches ...

Oh and just so you know , there is NO direct replacement available for the 69 engine , at least nothing that is shelf stock anywhere. Most people use the 70 -71 piston and it puts the piston where it would be for factory 69 NHRA blueprint spec , but thats not correct as the factory built them so you will have to get a custom if you want to mimic the factory build .

Hello John...

No, not an Original Sixpack... and i want to see the Deckclearance to see if we are making a calculation error, or if there are that much differences... It looks like there are either wrong informations about the C/R or there is an error our calculation....

And if i do my engine it has to look and be as original as possible...

third piston from the right is at TDC , thats about .020 in the hole .

are you saying your piston is .108 BELOW the deck ? if so it's because you have the wrong piston , probably is the part number 2266 on it?

Also an R/T block ???? There is NOTHING SPECIAL about a 6pk block vs. any other 440 block of the same era other than what is stamped on it .
