Costs vary dramatically from location to location. Some shops in rural areas would probably do that work for around 350 bucks.. Not around here.

Whatever you do, invest in a sonic test before investing anything in that block.. If the machinist tries to talk you out of it find another shop. If the block is pretty thin, then dont use it or save/sell it for a resto motor.

bore and hone with deckplate $210
line hone $200
square deck with BHJ fixture $180
sonic test $40
seems to be the going rates around here

Take a little longer trip to Michigan and have BEST MACHINE do the magic. You won't be disappointed.

Anyone that cheap is not to be trusted. At those prices they couldn't afford the proper machinery.

Better plan on getting those heads checked out & corrected, too. Procomp's not exactly known for rigid quality control standards.

But you would be surprised what I hear people pay for stuff in the more rural areas. Here you couldn't touch anything for that kind of money. And dont think just because someone has updated, state of the art machinery that you are going to get a good job, either. There are shops that have older equipment thats all paid for but still turn out nice work.

Thats cheap for a sonic check, but otherwise, I'd say thats right in line with pricing here...

Just picked up my 400 block. Cleaned and inspected, decked, bore and hone, line honed with studs, cam bearings, freeze plugs and intermediate shaft bushing. Right at $900
