Currently have the following items available for use:
* 360 block .030 over ex race block.
* 360 cast crank std exc shape
* Set of good 340 rods
* Set of iron ported 202 heads, I've never used
* LD340 intake
* Stock rocker system
* Holley DP 750 carb
* Set of solid rollers
* Solid Flat tappet cam with approx .600 lift (will have to dig up specs, probably too big for anticipated use)
* Good distributor
* Good 727 with reverse pattern.

Given the above how much of it would you use for a good torque truck engine??

What items would you purchase to replace above items?

Any input appreciated!!!

I have a .485" lift hydraulic roller in my motorhome, it's AWESOME. 2.02 heads, 10 to 1 compression, M1 intake, headers, it pulls HARD.
I'm not sure I would run a big solid roller though....

For the Dually, sustained power and torque are the key. The block, crank and rods sound fine if they measure right. I would have rods and the crank mag checked. For heads I would use Magnum's... and take the time and effort to build it for tight .040" quench with compression in the low 9's. This will provide power, economy and detonation resistance on hard pulls.

The cam needs replaced with a torque grind and the carb with a vac secondary type.

Personally I would keep it a 360 and not go with a 4" stroke as side loading on long pulls with a shorter rod/stroke may reduce life.

The above should get you a 250 net/300 gross HP engine... respectable and capable as a truck engine.

I'd reuse the intake, rockers, and dizzy, maybe the heads, conrods and carb,

no need for a race block, I'd go stock block, SCAT 4" crank, KB, ICON, or diamond dished pistons, and a hydaulic like a lunati voodoo 60401.

ideally I'd probably use a demonsizzler t-quad or the new t-quad style carb that demmon (or was it barry grant) just released, and I'd probably use magnum heads.

I had the exact same pile of parts in my 360 for my 86 W250, cept for the roller cam stuff. I used a MP purpleshaft 268/272 duration .455 lift cam. It worked great. I also used a thermoquad instead of the double pumper to help on fuel mileage.
