Has anyone taken a hood that has pin holing in the underside support member and repaired the hood using the underside support from another hood?

I am looking to take the underside support from a 73 Satellite flat hood and use it to repair a 72 RR hood. I have been told repeatedly that pinholing can significantly weaken the underhood support so I want to make sure it is possible to repair the hood before I purchase it.

Anyone have experience on whether the pinholing in the underside is a pretty good indicator of issues on the underside of the outer skin as well?

Thanks,
Brian

Anyone have to replace the underhood bracing on a 71-up b-body hood?

I haven't done a '71-up B-body hood in particular, but others... not all that difficult and it gives you the opportunity to clean up all the hidden areas and coat them.

On the hoods I've done, the outside skins were in very nice shape, but you'd have to evaluate the particular hood well before doing it. Poking around with a sharp pointed scribe or something similar on suspect areas should give you a pretty good idea if it's solid.
