Been sorting out my 440 in my bee, Ive been fighting with the six pack set up and think I about have it sorted out. Have everything back together and running and was going to ck timing and rpm. hooked up my timing light(dial back) and my multi meter to watch rpms and neither would read. Cked them both on another vehicle and they both worked fine, I have a msd blaster coil, new orange box that was bought 15 plus years ago that I just installed beacuse the black box that was on there quit, tried a different plug wire to see if it was that. cked the fire out of the coil wire and it seems weak, orangish color and doesent jump as far as I think it should. Has anyone run into this? Not sure where to look. Thanks in advance ozz

Voltage to the coil? If the ballast resistor is breaking up, maybe it's blocking too much voltage, and as a result the coil isn't making strong enough of a spark?

How much should be coming out of the ballist resistor? I assume I should have 12 volts to the coil during cranking but how much after? ozz

Running should be 9 volts if my memory serves me right, but an MSD coil I am pretty sure would want the full 12 .

""hooked up my timing light(dial back)""

If you hook up the MSD 6A, then you may need a standard timing light.

Clean the dampener well with lacquer thinner or similar then install the tape going clockwise from the TDC slit then spray the tape with clear lacquer paint to further glue it down & let it dry well. Much easier would be to make another mark with a sharpie 2&1/4" clockwise from the TDC slit which would be 35.5 degrees. You actually only need 1 mark for the total for your particular eng (36-38 for most big blocks) that way you can get by WO a dialback but they are so much fun to play with!. Can cut a strip of paper for a ruler .0632683" long (1 degree) times the # of total degrees you want. Use a 1"-2" micrometer or dial calipers. If your eng is running must be a poor/wrong connection why it wont fire. EDIT meant to say 2"-3" micrometer
