I think the only reason they're gonna build is for the Drag Pack cars to use against the COPO maros.

It'll probably end up there but thats not its main objective. As far as I know it's going to be in special SRT cars, I believe debuting in the new 2015 Challenger (or Cuda, whatever they end up calling it). I think someone said it'll be in the Jeep too in order to bury the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, BMW X5M, ML 63 AMG etc. (all 560+ HP twin turbo V8 SUVS that cost over $100K)

Good news or bad?
If its bad, it probably has to do with the economy. Fiat is probably scaling back which =

Scaling back is the LAST thing happening over there, they've invested something like 4.5 Billion in the state of Michigan alone since Fiat entered the picture in 2009. Wait until you see the Dart SRT4 - 350 HP + AWD. , among all the other crazy stuff coming out soon.

As long as the make enough power to make up for the weight, it will be impressive.

The LX's handle power better than they should. 4300 lbs and IRS don't seem to matter....

Nobody knows (that can talk about it), just that there will be a new car for 2015. This is Sergio Marchionne's (the Big CEO of Fiat, Chrysler, Maserati, Case and a dozen others) own Challenger, so I am confident they wont ruin it.

In an interview a few months ago he said "The Challenger needs to evolve"

-Doesnt sound like a Cuda to me

they can build a car that weighs 3000lbs, has 700+ RWHP and sell it for under $10,000 and some of the guys on here would still find something about it to b!tch about....

so true....

btw, I'm putting money on 6.4L bore destroked to 5.7/6.1 stroke (3.58", works out to 376CID or ~6.17L) and I wouldn't be shocked if it share the same block as the 6.4L

Who would have the production # s for all 6.4 produced?
If we could find this out maybe it would shed some light on the # of 6.2 that could be produced. Matt

6.4L was only in the Challenger for 2011, and 5265 were built. Obviously this year you have it in the Charger, 300 and Grand Cherokee as well but the Challenger is still the best seller of the group, with the Jeep a close second.

Thing is, the 6.2L isn't coming to replace the 6.4L, its to be a higher end model SRT8. Finding used 6.2's will be like finding hens teeth in the states and pretty much non existent in Canada.

All the more reason to come out with a good block for the racer enthusiast.
We need to get Fiat CEO here. Somebody call him

This engine is to debut as early as next year in special SRT8's.

I don't know how extreme they are going with it, but any speculation on power assuming the 6.4L crank and Apache heads with a smaller bore?

6.4L = 4.09 Bore X 3.72 Stroke (392)

6.2L = 4.03 Bore X 3.72 Stroke (380)

The GM LSA (ZR1 engine) dimensions are 4.06 X 3.62 and makes 580HP @ 9psi boost. The 5.8L in the GT500 makes 662 @ 15psi

The LS9 ZR1(Corvette) engine is 638 HP. The LSA ZL1(Camaro)engine is 580. Another version of the LSA as installed in the Cadillac CTS/V is 556 HP. The upside of a boosted engine is the simplicity of adding power. A simple pulley gear swap can pick up another 75 HP easily. Of course this voids the warranty.

The only advantage of this head is thicker decks for 30+psi of boost. The intake, exhaust and rockers are all the same.

A stock head can make just as much power, if not more.
