My brother in law is building a 70 ''cuda using a drive drive out of his old mud truck. He put the motor in and fired it up and heard a bit of noise. This prompted him into gettingg a set of eddy heads . While apart he decided to measure everything and was disappointed to learn he did not have a striker motor like he was previously led to believe from the original owner. Anyway, he found part # 3690835 on the pistons. He believes these are Direct Connection/TRW .60 over forged pistons. I was hoping someone here might be able to tell us what the CC dome size volume is.

Put the pistons 1" down the bore. Wipe a little grease on the cylinder wall just above the piston and rotate the engine until the piston is only .500" from the deck surface. Make sure the grease is sealing around the crown of the piston. Get yourself a cc'ing plate and measure it. If the engine is still in the car, get a piece of plexiglass and make sure the hole is at the very top of the cylinder. Record your measurement. Now multiply: bore x bore x .500" x .7854 x 16.38. Now subtract your measured volume from the volume you just figured here and you'll have your dome volume. Obviously you can use any figure you like down the bore, I'm just using .500" for reference purposes.

I recommended this method to him as well, however he seemed to think he could get the dome CC volume from the manufacturer. Maybe I'm using the incorrect terminology as I think he is trying to determine the compression ratio? ...a lot of this is above my head, but he asked if I could help and I said I would ask the experts.

Call up the MP hotline (not sure of the #, might Google it) & see if they have a listing for that part # & if so they'll have a figure for you

I was generalizing. I think he said it was a valve problem he found.
