Thanks for the pics I'd be all-in FAST if I had the scratch. I still think those L88 Corvettes & ZL1's should be outlawed in FAST. They won't let aluminum nosed mopars run.

Thanks for sharing these excellent photos of those beautiful machines. I donīt mind the size of the photos; makes them more realistic.

Excellent pictures , you are quite the photographer .
Looks like Ed cook returned his 6pk runner to Stock ?
Will be interesting to see what happens at the Pure stock drags in September , one run at 11.25
Yep John. Eddies RR is now a factory stocker. He was going to run a 4 speed car and keep this one FAST, but the car got sold...
11.25?? Out there?? Thats just insane ...Congrats Julie!!!
Anyone hear how the Hemi RR from Rick Mahoney ran??

If you're talking about the dark blue '68 Factory Stock car it ran 11.39 @ 128 I believe....
is right , on the heels of the vettes, so I guess a STOCK L88 vette may be running 10's next year ?

Thanks 68shifter for the pictures. Even though I was there, it's nice to see pics from all those different views.

Anyone else remember seeing the mph on the blue rr. Was it 128? That is crazy mph for a pure stock car.

Just got home. Had a great time out there, that track is very well maintained. It was very hot, air was real bad, all the street tires torn the track down pretty good so traction was marginal, but still managed a 11.44 @ 118 and change. Transmission started to flare up big time a on the 2/3 shift so I didn't push it with many passes.

The road runner went 11.39 @ 124. Just for clarification. His charging system took a crap in the burnout box so we were unable to see him take on the Pennington Vette.
It went 125.?? on Friday. Tach had the shift pointer set to 7600 rpm

They would have had to take the roll bar out if they were to swap cars. That wouldn't be so easy to do. Plus, one of the cars (don't remember which one) has power windows. No, someone would be sure to catch um if there was a swap going on.

Why do we see no LS-6 Chevelle's in FAST or purestock? There must be a few there (???), but they don't seem to be competitive. For years I've listened to chebbie guys tell me the LS-6 was a Hemi killer, and couldn't be beat..... You'd think the 70 LS-6 Chevelle would be one of the popular choices with FAST guys.

Are those slicks on that orange vette? I realize there is some tread, but that is pretty ridiculous....was that car running pure stock or f.a.s.t class.

John , those are repop poly's , the less thread they have on them the better it would seem.

The reason they are not so good in ps is the Intake. They don't have the nice high rise intake the l72 and the l88 does. I believe the l88 has the Vanke mod also. The passenger car exhaust manifold is not near as good as the vette.

Dont forget,
You can run the rectangular 842 aluminum heads-even on a 70 as a few L89's squeaked out before the intro of the LS6. And for FAST where weight is at a premium, that might be the better package. The cubes wouldnt be an issue in FAST.

The l78 with the l89 option would defiantly be the best choise for fast. And possibly ps with enough gear. The good intake and aluminum heads its a win win.

with the Corvette and the Camaro in the shed, the Chevelle is probably not the sharpest tool
That said, Donny G's 66 396 Chevelle in FAST has gone 10.60s and there have been 4 different Pure Stock LS6 Chevelles that went better than 12.50, with a stick shift one having posted a 12.21
Chevy infiltrator 12.34 @ 109.45 with a 1.73 sixty foot

The corvette is always going to be the sharpest tool in the shed for the Chevy boys. But given the choise of the Camaro and a Nova for FAST. I would take a Nova.
