Why do we see no LS-6 Chevelle's in FAST or purestock? There must be a few there (???), but they don't seem to be competitive. For years I've listened to chebbie guys tell me the LS-6 was a Hemi killer, and couldn't be beat..... You'd think the 70 LS-6 Chevelle would be one of the popular choices with FAST guys.

Are those slicks on that orange vette? I realize there is some tread, but that is pretty ridiculous....was that car running pure stock or f.a.s.t class.

John , those are repop poly's , the less thread they have on them the better it would seem.

Julie's vette runs Pure Stock ... cough cough ...

There are a few that attend the pure stock races. None of them were at the Martin race.

The reason they are not so good in ps is the
Intake. They don't have the nice high rise intake the l72 and the l88 does. I believe the l88 has the Vanke mod also. The passenger car exhaust manifold is not near as good as the vette.

Dont forget,

You can run the rectangular 842 aluminum heads-even on a 70 as a few L89's squeaked out before the intro of the LS6. And for FAST where weight is at a premium, that might be the better package. The cubes wouldnt be an issue in FAST.

The l78 with the l89 option would defiantly be the best choise for fast. And possibly ps with enough gear. The good intake and aluminum heads its a win win.

with the Corvette and the Camaro in the shed, the Chevelle is probably not the sharpest tool

That said, Donny G's 66 396 Chevelle in FAST has gone 10.60s and there have been 4 different Pure Stock LS6 Chevelles that went better than 12.50, with a stick shift one having posted a 12.21

The corvette is always going to be the sharpest tool in the shed for the Chevy boys. But given the choise of the Camaro and a
Nova
for FAST. I would take a Nova.
