I was talking to a friend of mine and we were discussing 70 Challenger production numbers. I had seemed to remember the total production number for 70 Challengers at 86,000 units total. He said the number was 68,000 units. I had remembered their being 9900 convertibles,he says there was only 4000 convertibles. Does anybody have the actual numbers, including the hardtop/convertible numbers,as well as the R/T/non R/T numbers. thanks Pete.

There were only roughly 3000 in 70 and 2000 in 71 convertibles produced each year. So only 5000 exist in total.

My wifes 70 383 L code Plum Crazy vert is a pretty rare car. Being one of only 211 built, out of the 4243 total 70 Challenger convertibles built in 1970. My 71 Challenger convertible is one of only 1857 total built in 71 thats a fairly rare car too. My friend has four 70 Challenger convertibles. One I sold him is a 6 cylinder car,two are N code 383 cars and the other is a V code automatic car. Thanks again for clairifying the numbers for us.

I'm a little confused by what I'm reading.

How many 1970 Challenger R/T 383 4 speed Convertibles made??
Also it's an A/C car.
Thanks Ron

According to the information above it would be 149. The number of AC vs non AC versions is unknown.

Keep in mind that number comes from the US-spec cars and not total production. Hence, it's out of the set of 963 and not 1070.

The T/A was based on the base Challenger and not the R/T.

Post states total production numbers, and second part was RT and Non RT which brings back the queston, was the TA included in the total production count?

yes, the Challenger T/A is included in the total

it is simply a Challenger (JH23) with an OPTION package (A53)
