Mallory promaster and accel coils are supposed to be the best with the mopar boxes and new rev-n-ator. Msd blaster coils work the best with a msd ignition.

with sticking to matched components. go with the blaster, i would recommend getting this one - http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Coils/Race/8222_-_High_Vibration_Blaster_Coil.aspx - which i will be moving over to. they also fit nicely in the 6-pac coil mount bracket . once you switch your ECU over to MSD you can also safely toss your ballast resistor.

I agree MSD.Mine with 6AL is 12 years old and no problems ever.My kid just did have to replace his Blaster with the 6 Digital. It was at least 15 years old and had tons of miles as does mine.Rocky

If you want a can coil (for cosmetic reasons) then a Blaster high vibration (means its epoxy filled) would be my choice.
If you want a better coil, but its not a can, then get an "e-coil" the ones that sorta look like transformers

interesting read and there's no question that an e-coil is the way to go but for a stock appearance, no dice. that and i don't think most of us would really ever notice the drop in performance. i got the impression the guy was just trying to push high $ stuff? i don't know, i'm not a bracket racer, just a 'poser'

Bingo!! But the production Rev N Nator works well with the MSD coils now.

The Accel coil does not do too well with the MSD6 on the dyno,I use a Blaster 3. I have tried the newer HVC2 coil from MSD on my dyno and under 7000 rpm with a 13 to 1 engine, the Blaster 3 did just as good. And it fits a stock bracket.

when you say HVC2 coil are you refering to the e-coil style boxy one or the e-filled can type that fits in the stock bracket (the one i posted a link to up above)? i'm curious how well they perform.... i would expect better due to no heat build up??

The HVC 2 I referred to was number 8253(the big blue U-core design).
It was designed for the MSD 6 ignitions, but requires different mounting locations or a custom bracket.
The only real advantage to it I see is possibly better high rpm spark. The engine I was dynoing with was past it's peak before 7000 rpm so it might help above that, hard to say without testing the right engine.
