Hi Bob. According to this chart, and my test at Norwalk, our CD Coil will power the 7AL and 7AL Plus. Thanks for asking. http://www.msdignition.com/products/coils/As said in a ton of threads, ignition wires do not magically "make" power. They do, however, allow the engine to reach it's potential horsepower. When comparing ignition wires, its the same as everything else. Apples to apples. You can not compare, fairly, two different type wires. For example, carbon core and spiral core. Two different animals. Where our wires shine is on the extreme engines. Yes a 250 horse engine will notice a difference when switching from lower-performance wires...but when dyno-testing hi-level ignition wires, it will be hard for the average data aquisition dyno operator to see a difference. This being said, I am not sure how Greg Stanfield(NitroFish Pro Stock car) dynoed, but he saw an absolute difference, and will not be taking his Firecore50 Wires off. Same goes true with Tony Shoe, Antron, Spencer, Cruz, Hagan, Beckman, Gray, McMillan, both Al Anabi T/F dragsters, and a couple others.

Randy, I talked to Rich from Firecore about a few other things I might test with his products, but I have not called him back yet. Maybe I should try his regular distributor against an MP? I am not sure how the pick up coil in his is set up,but I know the MP and MSD have a different signal from each other. It makes a difference with some ignitions, and nothing noticeable on others.
Jeff,thanks for the kind words!!
Keith

This is just my opinion, but I believe there is no HP made by a distributor. All it does is direct voltage to the plugs.
HOWEVER, where it really makes a difference, is that the Firecore Distributor timing remains exact and steady to 10,000 rmp. Dead nuts, zero retard. No other top-mount distributor in the industry can advertise that. Also, the Firecore Distributor is the only hot-forged billet piece in the industry. Thanks guys.

Rich,I agree with your statement for the most part. The only thing I have seen with them is a couple of situations where an ignition system was not happy with the signal the pick up coil was putting out. The MP distributors and stock replacements use a low resistance pick up coil, the MSD uses a higher resistance one. I have seen a distributor change totally screw with what is going on with an ignitions signal. That is why I wondered how yours compared. Keith

I retested with the Firecore coil and the MSD 6 today and it ran great. Not sure what happened the other day. Never missed a beat, ran pretty even with the MSD coil. I did not think to print out anything,as there really was no huge improvement or loss to show. But at least it is nice to know it runs well. The one thing better about the Firecore coil I noticed was that the engine seems to repeat better from pull to pull with it compared to the MSD. That would have to be better for consistency in my opinion. Keith

Thank you, Keith. If you want, I'll send you a mechanical and a BRAND-NEW MSD Billet. You can "play" with those if you like. We said from the beginning, Firecore Performance Products are a proven-quality product. This info is advantageous for engine builders and racers alike. Keith, welcome to the Firecore Performance Products authorized dealer network.

Old Thread
I was trying to get ahold of Dunnick Racing and Firecore Distr (Either busy , or don’t post anymore ?) About there RTR Distributors , if still available ?
Also Dunnick Racing , his pictures expired on this thread , when testing
Wanted to see if anyone saved his results on testing coils and Mopar ignition boxes when it came to RPMs and dwell variation versus the RTR Distributor
Thanx Scott

I forgot to post this up last night,it was a long day here. I ran the MP orange and chrome box with several differetn coils. The best of those pulls compared to the RTR and matching Firecore coil are here. I can get the MP boxes to make about the same power up top,but all through the middle they are weaker. I should also tell you that this is the better of two orange boxes I have,it is a pretty old one. It consistently out performs the chrome one with each coil I tried at this level. Keith Have you ever tried the Rev N Nator box?

Thanks for the posts and info, Keith. Something must be wrong with the coil. We made that coil specifically for the MSD 6 al AND our RTR Distributor. It has the identical specs as the MSD SS Coil. Please check again. If it does not work, I'll send another. I have been running our coil and the MSD6AL for 2 years on my 10.81 Hemi Purple Behemouth. Thanks again. Been running one with my 6al since 2015. Never a problem.
Ok

Hey guys, I am back!!! I felt wierd still going as SunroofGTX, without actually owning a SunroofGTX. Well, happily, I re-own my original SunroofGTX!! We have a brand new, new and improved RTR Distributor. Better in every respect. I will post pics next week, but it takes the screw down style, msd style male distributor cap.. We private label them for Summit.

Previously a lot of folks on here had complaints about the Firecore distributors - mainly quality if I recall. I had one but never ran it - I sure didn't see any quality issues. Sold it 'cause I'm going to need a dual-sync. Your tests seem to have proven them wrong. I'd like to see Rich make a dual-sync !!
