Per Jake’s suggestion I installed a set of Rancho 9 way adjustable shocks on Da Beast this week. I took it to T&T tonight to dial them and the tire pressure in. I set the shocks on 8, Calvert racing recommends 6 to 9 for foot brake. Tire pressure was 9.75 psi on the first pass. Sixty foot was 1.497, the tires bit hard for an instant then the suspension unloaded and the tires spun. My sixty foot time with the old shocks and 7.75 psi tire pressure were in the 1.40 to 1.44 range.
Second pass I left the shocks set at 8 and lowered the tire pressure to 9.5 psi and the sixty dropped to 1.487. The tires bit then the suspension unloaded and I went into tire spin.
Third pass I left the tire pressure at 9.5 and set the shocks at 7, the sixty dropped again to 1.452. The suspension is still unloading causing tire spin.
Fourth pass I lowered the psi to 9.0, sixty foot went to 1.448, but the suspension is still unloading and causing tire spin.
Fifth pass shocks are still set at 7 but tire pressure is now 8.75. Sixty went to 1.454 and it is still unloading the suspension and spinning.
Pass six I set the shocks at six and left the tires at 8.75 psi. Sixty went to 1.425. The suspension didn’t unload and she stayed hooked.
Pass seven I kept the shocks at 6 and upped the tire pressure to 9.0. The suspension didn’t unload but I had tire spin and sixty went to 1.436.
Pass eight and nine shocks are still set at six and dropped the tire pressure 8.5 psi. The sixty foots were 1.426 and 1.423 respectively. Now we’re getting someplace.
On the last pass just to see what would happen I set the shocks at five and upped the tire pressure to 9.0. The sixty went to 1.45 and I had tire spin.
It looks like the car likes the shocks set at six and 8.5 PSI tire pressure. Tomorrow I’ll try the tires at 8.25 psi. The tires aren’t wadding up like they were in the picture with the old shocks and 7.75 PSI in the tires.
All and all it was a great night of T&T to dial in Da Beast's new adjustable shocks. One more thing the car doesn’t wheel stand like did with the old shocks. It still wheel stands put not as violent or high as it did before.
