68 silver GTX , need to know what the wheels were on car off production line.

Here is a pic of a 68 Coronet RT tag. the number 44 is the tire code for this car. Standard redline. You can see where this code is and look at your tag. Then come back here with that code number. I don't know all the 68 tire codes.

46 is your tire code which is F70X14 white walls, and if I had to guess it probably came with hubcaps. Generally you need to have the build sheet to know exactly what wheels came with it.

Go nutty and put some decent sized wheels and tires to fill the wheelwells up.

According to the 68 Plymouth price list code 46 is a "white streak" tire. Perhaps some confusion and/or mistakes are because on the second page, code 46 also says "replaces F70x14 red streak tire". Maybe someone missed the "replaces".

Seemed strange that they showed 2 different style tires with same code. Just copied what i found on a decoder page on the web.

If the car codes with white wall tires i would say it had full wheel covers.

While I'm certainly a fan of steelies and dog dish caps, I tend to think that most GTXs would have had road wheels or at lest full cover hub caps. If the GTX was an Ordered car (Code U-1)then hard to tell what the original owner was thinking at the time - many were probably bought with base wheels with the idea of changing them out for something aftermarket soon after purchase. If the car was a Sales Bank car then usually would have had nicer wheels to help sell the vehicle. "Most" GTXs and Sport Satellites tend to be optioned out more so than the Road Runners. That GTX looks very nice already and either way they go with wheels will still awesome when it is done!

my brother had one back in the 80's , and we cut it all up for the drags.

according to broadcast sheet, the wheels are code 16A. The tire code is 44, and the wheel covers is 01. Any ideas what they mean??? Wanting it to look like it did off the line. Thanks
