Do you paint it engine color to blend in or leave it in its natural cast finish? Does leaving it unpainted allow the heat to radiate off of it faster?

The one I have in there now is the old cast iron one, does its job but I can hopefully drop my temperatures a little with this Mancini housing.

Depends what you want. On a race engine I leave the aluminum unpainted. On a daily driver I would paint it engine color. The aluminum will corrode over time on a daily driver due to the water and road trash that gets thrown up on it. A painted surface is easier to keep clean than a bare aluminum one. Same thing with heads and intake manifold. On a daily driver I would paint that stuff just to make it last longer.

Well the intake manifold is jet hot coated...My RPM heads I was just going to leave bare casting....should be able to clean just fine with the 1000 miles she gets driven per year

Clear engine enamel.Dupli Color will yellow over time, but Plasti Kote and Rust-O-Leum engine clears work great.

I don't know where you buy your spray bombs but i rarely had any issues with any rattle can engine paint. But then again i don't buy my paint from Bennies Bargin Basement.

I would paint it like AndyF said. I left mine bare and it don't get driven much either, but the bare aluminum is getting nasty. Next time I'm painting. My

I painted the aluminum heads, intake, water punp housing, etc on my Challenger years ago, but it is coming off the aluminum (the steel still looks good), so on the New Yorker I gave it all a light coat of etching primer before the engine paint- haven't cranked it up yet so I don't know if this works or not, but using Mopar hemi orange on clean bare aluminum did not work.

Comes out just fine. You have to hold the can with the nozzle UP.

No..that the pump housing will dissipate the heat more than the cast iron one would. I have the aluminum water pump as well. I think it will flow the same as the cast iron one but again, the housing might dissipate the heat faster.

Going to get the right mixture in the block plus add some water wetter when I am done. I like to operate about 170º-180º...There are days where I have seen 200º on the gauge.

IMO, you will find that the finish on the waterpump housing and it's subsequent ability to affect the efficiency of your cooling system is an order of magnitude below insignificant.

Paint or don't based on what you want it to look like and/or maintenance issues. My vote is for paint.

Housing is iron, but the pump is aluminum - I polished it.

Yeah....I gotta agree, here. Rons 63 is Bad Azz for sure, but he's gotta do something different in the air cleaner dept.

Ron - where does the hose connected to the breather cap go? What kind of breather is on the other valve cover and where is it connected?

I use clear single stage polyurethane and add a touch of silver metallic...tough as nails, looks great, wipes clean like glass.
