Thanks for taking the time to post the drama.

So, here's the sixty-four dollar question: How bad has the engine suffered from all the shrapnel going through it?

By the way, you can post all the pics of that SOHC motored car you want!

And one more thing... MODS: BRING BACK EDDIE MILLER!

Congrats to Eddie for getting his 7 second pass, and for making it through the week, no matter what it took.

BTW, HEMI Joel was riding in the 63 1/2 Ford that had the 427 SOHC motor. They had pushrod, and rocker arm issues, and had to bow out of the event after a few days.

The Galaxie belongs to Jay Brown over at FordFE.com. You are correct he had rocker arm problems. Cammers don't have pushrods though...

Congratulations Eddie. Most people would have packed it in. If it were me I would have quit and not risked serious damage to my engine. It speaks volumes about your dedication.

I guess we'll find out ultimately what it cost you to stick it out, but hopefully the carnage will not be too bad.

In hindsight, as a temporary stop gap measure, some strong magnets inserted inside the engine might have collected a good amount of the shrapnel, minimizing collateral damage.

You know a guy I know has 2 big old speaker magnets stuck to the pan on the outside along the back of it for a similar reason

I bet most of Eddies trash was aluminum tho...........

Great story, but I have a question.

You mentioned Eddie calling AAA when he was out of gas and you posted a pic of what appears to be an unhappy Alabama State Trooper but never mentioned him.

Want to fill us in on gettin pulled over, or did he just stop cause he saw you guys broke down?

Kinda curious what he had to say about the "Rube Goldberg" tire carrier

that pic of the officer was called to the sceen by AAA. we had been pulled over by other cops also but they were cool about the hole thing. we went out of our way to make that hitch carrier shelf as legal as possible. we put lights on it that were better than any 35 year old mopar
