krw71ragtop OP super stock K Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 892 USA	Is there any prep work I need to do before I install these gaskets in a 416" small block with Edelbrock heads ? The motor had approx. 800 miles on it.

A 50 RA finisgh is real fine, so fine you shouldn't be able to see or feel lines between the cuts of the finish. I had to pull the heads to fix a rocker arm issue, and re-used the gaskets, but I coated them with the copper head gasket paint stuff, and have had no problems with that method either.

Your machine shop should use a PCD cutter for aluminum and a CBN for cast to get the proper RA/RV surface finish.
