I still want to think there was an independent team trying to run Pro Stock with a Javelin in 1971 or so. I remember the door had a big _ _ dealers association painted on the drivers side door. It was a white car with red lettering, but my memory is not what it used to be so I will leave it at that. Would have been hard for AMC to compete in the original Pro Stock rules since they did not have a true big block engine. Old Geezer Racing

I'm pretty sure AMC V-8's were all basically the same externally, so it wasn't easy to tell if an engine was a 290 or a 401!

RADAMX enthusiast Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 235 Tucson AZ.	I would imagine the frontal area of a javelin to be quite abit larger than a hornet simply because the javelin is a lot wider car And it seemed the pro stockers back then were running shorter wheel base cars ?

I remember Booth ran a Gremlin before the hornet but can't recall a Javelin. I remember the Drag-On-lady super stocker being first an AMX and later a Javalin, the Jav got really BIG in the early 70's making the Hornet a more logical (lighter) choice for pro stock. I may be wrong, but there was a guy in N.Y that had a S/S AMX ("American Way", "American Dream", sommething like that)that ran at NY Nat'l that tried once or twice to run P/S with it. This was when P/S was basically modded S/S cars so in theory his car could run the class but I don't think he was very successful
