I have a hypothetical question for the Moparts faithful; Lets say you are going to build a Super Stock GT/Modified/Modified Stock car with the intent to go 9.20's and faster. If you could use one car to build for these classes from the 1990's and beyond, what would it be and why?

PS: Try to think about this from a looks and performance perspective(aerodynamice, engine compartment size, weight, etc)

Personally, I think the 95-97 Dodge Avenger's are the best option in terms of weight and aerodynamics. You could probably get the care down to 2700lbs race weight with no problems.

I guess everybody hated GT and Modified cars in Super Stock, I was really hoping for some good conversation on the topic, guess not.

Avenger R/T IMO it's even better looking than the challenger. The early 2000's not the current paltform.

No question an Avenger or Stratus. Frontal area would be the reasoning. Although trying to compete with the aero disadvantages over the Chevy and Pontiacs will be a hard battle to win. We have been discussing doing the same thing lately. Either SS/AM BM SS/AS, BS or maybe an A/SMA or B/SMA car. I almost bought a B/SMA comp car last year before the small tire Cuda happened.

Wes Leopold is selling his SS/AS record holding Daytona..

The Wann's had a GT Avenger for sale at a decent price. Was a Div car running GT. Nice car and the Wanns can certainly help with the HP side for GT

Well, I just looked up the drag coefficients of all of the cars mentioned and it turns out that all of them including the challenger are between .325-.36. The Challenger actually has a comparable drag coefficient w/ the new challenger surprisingly lol. I think the biggest factor in the discussion is weight. The Avenger wins that battle by about 150lbs having a curb weight just under 2900lbs. I personally thinking the 05 Sebring Coupe outside of the shorter wheelbase viper is the best looking newer styling coupe that Mopar has put into production in the last 20years. Just wish it was a tad bit thinner to have a lil better aero.

PS: I don't know when I will get there but I will be going with an Avenger/Stratus/Sebring with the car I build in the future.

GT/BA-GT/DA 400 235HP combo
SS/AM 400ci BB(Hopefully) or 360ish SB
A/SMA or D/AA 400ci BB
