Is there anyone in Colorado (the Front Range..Ft. Collins to Pueblo) that knows of or has used a quality machine shop with modern equipment (computerised and use torque plates) and techs who know mopars?

Have you checked with Angelo at Geddes Auto Machine (Co. Spgs.)? Also maybe check with Madcap in Denver or Dave Slatten in Ft.Collins.

McCabe Motorsports in the springs has done several of my small block mopars over the years. He does excellent work, and I've never had a failure do to poor machine work. He's built several circle track mopars as well...he's also one of the few who has the bell housing and adapters to dyno mopar engines. (Geddes does too)

Madcap is likely to be the only shop that has a CNC block center and is somewhat Mopar knowledge. The other Mopar specific shops (Ridge Reamers, The Block Shop) are still using hammers and chisels but do have torque plates.

Keep your altitude in mind when you plan your build. You can/need to build more mechanical compression to compensate for density/altitude. Online calculators are a good tool for this.

Troy Kaiser at Hi Pro Engines does great work - 303-777-7678. Not all that modern but he gets it done. And he is a MOPAR man. His Dad used to run top fuel and he runs a Blown 392 in Fast 16.

I wouldn't let Geddes turn a set of drums for me, seen way to many mistakes causing engine failures come out of his shop. McCabes seems to be out of bussiness?

I'll check out the others suggested! Thanks Guys

Ridge Reamer is probably your best bet. Just got my 500 back from them yesterday. Had them do tons of work over the years and never had a problem. Pete used to race a 383 Mirada, and they definitely know Mopar engines.

There are several shops that can do bore and Hone with torque plates. Not many with fixtures for correcting lifter bore alignment (MadCap) or installing aftermarket main caps.
The shop I used outsorced installing the main caps (got me a better price than when I called around), but I don't know who did the work?
The Block Shop is pretty good for the basic stuff, I have used then several times. I recently used them to machine my 505" stroker block. Align honed the mains, Bored and honed (with torque plates) the 440 block for 0.030" pistons. Measured the crank, rods and pistons to square deck the block for a zero deck height at TDC.
The other shops listed here in Denver, Ridge Reamer, Slatton have good reputations, but I have not personally used them.

Only knock I've heard on Ridge Reamers is that they can be slow to turn work around. Otherwise, good guys.

They turned my 500 around in about 2 months, including the waiting time for the stroker kit to come in. Once they had the parts, it was only about 2 weeks to finish. I consider that reasonable seeing as it's racing season and they are busy right now.

You must be on the A-list. They wouldn't even return my calls.

I've only had them do a handful of work recently, mostly some small Onan 2 cylinders. After my 340 sat in their shop for almost 10 years, I'm surprised they didn't want full payment up front! I think the thing is they are not very office savvy. It's 3 guys trying to do everything. They still hand write the receipts! How much is a computer and Quickbooks?? Oh well, the work is quality.

Another good shop for general work I forgot about is Gunn Automotive. They are very reasonable but don't have torque plates for Mopar. For a cheapie build I would totally use them.

I've had good luck with Ridge Reamer and friends have had good luck with The Block Shop.
BUT.......
If you want the latest high tech equipment and are willing to pay the price then Madcap is your place. If you have the $$$ go for it.
Plus they sell me Holley jets for $4 a pair.
