How many tracks are within an hour or two from Charlotte. I know there is Zmax and Rockingham. What are some others?

Mostly 1/8th miles ( Mooresville, Pageland) Darlington is another 1/4 mile that's just over an hour or about the same distance as the Rock.

Yeah , I forgot old' Shadyside. Farmington isn't far if you live on the North side of Charlotte, but since the biggest concentration of the Population is on the south side of 485 I really didn't count it since Mooresville is a closer 1/8th mile.
The only other 1/4 mile within 2 hrs would be Fayetteville.

Piedmont is about 1.5 hrs, but well worth the ride.

What is wilkesboro like? I have always wanted to stop by there on my way to the mountains

We raced PTRA there one time. The facility is one of the nicest around, playground for the kids, indoor restaurant/snack bar with arcade games for the kids, concrete bleachers, 75% of parking is paved. Very nice place. One of the worst track surfaces I have ever raced on and I have raced at some real $hitholes. Track surface/prep is their only downfall. LOL

I just accepted a job in Charlotte. Big decision is where to live? Want to be out and don't mind a 30 to 45 minute commute. I have three kids so the school district is very important. Any help would be appreciated. Look forward to finishing the car and getting it to some tracks in NC and SC.

I live in the Landis/Kannapolis area about 30min north of charlotte. Houses/land is cheap, easy access to I-85, and the schools are some of the best in the state testing wise,(my sis is a Rowan/Salisbury teacher) I'll put in a shameless plug for living in Landis because I work in the water/sewer utility there lol but our water/electric rates are high. However if your water/sewer/light stop working we have a 10-15 min response time even after hours

Anyway, mooresville's 1/8th mile is about 10 mins from landis/kannapolis area and rockingham/piedmont/farmington are only an hour and a half away

First let me say welcome to NC My only advice is i would chose my location based on what side of Charlotte your going to be working. I-85 north or south is a dead standstill in the mornings coming in to Charlotte.

I will be working for the City of Charlotte on Fourth Street. A block away from the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
