Here is a before pic to go with the one showing this area all fixed. Some folks just did what they had to in order to make the old race parts "fit"...

That hood was something else! He had trouble in deciding on the placement of that Mustang scoop and just kept on drilling holes until he finally got it centered My buddy liked it so much, he has it hanging on his garage wall

Ha- it just dawned on me that you were referring to Joey's aluminum hood

Well, new pics from Joey, not the best discovery, but it is a near 50 year old car, so we knew there would be some deeper issues. The rat urine really did a number on the cowl and firewall. I should have pics soon showing the repairs and then the final cowl installation.

And the last for now. I have to say, I think that most, if not all '62-5 B-bodies have some issues brewing in these areas. It was simply a horribly designed structure. Even the California replacement cowl assembly I bought has some deep pitting in the same areas at the pinch welds. And that was from a life long Cali desert car!!!

I have owned 10-15 62-65 B bodies while I lived in Arizona and every one of them had cowl issues. Even the ones I bought in California. This was a junk trap that couldn't be cleaned.

Major score! I just bought a '63 426TMPHC longblock. I have been searching high and low for a factory high compression block for two years now. The date is one month after the Savoy was built, but, oh well, I will live

For those that would like to see the difference, here is a low compression '63 MW block.

The casting date on the block is 10-12-62. It was built years ago for a fellow's boat! It has a funky Edelbrock timing cover with the mounts. Notice, even the original maxie oilpan has been modified with side kick-outs in the sump.

Here is the restored instrument cluster. The gauges were rebuilt/refinshed by Mike Mancini of Auto Instruments and the bezel and heater delete plate were replated/detail painted by Glenn at G-Car. Top notch work done by both
