I was at the shop yesterday and the guys were showing me a car they shot some of Ricks undercoating on and I thought it was a little "weak" looking, not nearly as rough or aggressive looking as I was led to believe to expect.
They said they used the Shutz gun so the tools are there but I was wondering if anyone has applied it and what can be done to make it appear more rough looking? Would it take mulitple applications? How about thinning or not thinning(I dont remember him saying how/what he thinned)

Thanks!!!

I bought some of Rick's undercoating but am not going to use it. I sprayed a test section and agree with your assessment. I bought some "flex seal" in a can and find it to give a more accurate appearance.

Ricks stuff works great but it takes a specific method to apply it with convincing results, using Ricks tips together with practice will get you a long way towards making it look the part. If you just blast it on you won't get the desired results.

I find lower pressure actually works better, when the pressure is to high it sprays finer & flatter, lower the pressure & try again...

the 3m undercoating i sprayed, seemed thin compared to factory, what i did was sprayed it on heavy, let it set for 10 min, used the wifes old hair brush(course) dabbed the entire area i sprayed(like sponging or ragging)it pulled the new undercoating up to be real bumpy, and blended perfectly to the factory spray

You also need a larger nozzel than the standard shutz gun has. I drilled mine out.
