I made a bracket and mounted a Carter pump off the right side of the center section above the rear end. Like you I struggled to find a good spot. Not too many options.

I mounted my Magnafuel 275 pump and filter in the right rear corner of the rear sub frame and rear valance behind the stock fuel tank, my tank has a center sump welded onto the bottom of the stock tank so that location puts the pump behind and almost the same level as the sump outlet ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif) I have seen some guys cut a hole into the trunk floor to have the top of the pump protrude into the trunk so the pump doesn't hang down to far ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1343795-scratchchin.gif) It is way better to have the pump lower and behind the tank outlet than in front and or above the outlet, let gravity help feed the pump inlet ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif) IHTHs

Well, I went out there and checked it out and there is no other place other then the rail that I have pictured. If I didn't run full exhaust the rear would be do-able but not the way it is. Sooo ..tht being said do you think I can get away with mounting it on the angle I have pictured?
You say you don't want to cut the car , is it a 340 car ?
I assume you only drive it on the nicest of days in the best conditions ? Otherwise that pump is just going to be covered in road grime unless you have the room to shield it.
How wide a tire do you run? Will something be connected tothe port that pokes out toward the tire ?
I'd be looking at a different pump if it were me, that thing is huge .

Your pretty much bang on all counts. Yes, it is a 340 car and yes it only gets driven on the nicest days(400 miles a year). When I restored it I tried to reverse the years of bastardizing that happens so I hate to start cutting and modifying the body again. I run the factory skinny rims and tires on the street and also run 15x8 rims with 26x11.5's slicks, but the pump will clear all of the rim/tires combos. The pump does fit behind the rim vertically- it just hangs lower than I like- it fits MUCH nicer on a angle. With the dana in there there just isn't room for much anymore. I could mount it to the diff but I would prefer to mount it to the body if I have a choice...

Do you have enough space to mount it vertical and fan up some type of shield? Some deer metal and a few bends would prevent grime and road debris damage.

I can get the pump lower on the rail then the tank pickup but mounting it anywhere rear of the axle is just not possible- the pump is simply to big(I don't want people to see it and the lines hanging down from the rear of the car). The instructions say mount it vertical so it does not flood the pump housing but I just can't see that happening on the mild angle that I've pictured- there is no weep hole either. I know mounting it ahead of the tank is not the hot ticket but I don't think I have another option after looking under the car again I thought about moving springs and exhaust around but I'm just not sure I want to go there or if it's worth it. damn. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

What about getting a different pump , something like an aeromotive that would easily mount in the area above the axle ?

Agreed. That Mallory is enormous.
But if you must use the Mallory, I'm sure the slight angle you've shown wouldn't be a problem. I've seen people mount Holley Blue pumps completely upside down (opposite of what the directions say), and they still work fine. I'm sure 30 degrees won't affect it.
