I've heard of these guys before, but didn't realize they offer more than just add-on crank scrapers. Their BB Mopar page has some interesting mods they do which look like they could be really good ideas for someone like myself staying w/ an OEM-type pan like the Milodon Street Hemi piece shown here. Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of adding a crank scraper and, possibly, their "dual level" screen / tray modification over simply running a full-length Milodon louvered windage tray? Thanks.

I find it odd that they put a screen inside the tray , I would have thought the screen would eliminate the need for the tray itself ?
Of course I just louvered a bunch on stock MP trays I had , I like what they did to the stock tray better .

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, it appears that they cut out the solid tray and use the remaining framework to attach the screen. Screen has a lot more louvers to drain the oil than one can stamp into a solid tray.

Myron the tray appears to be underneath and intact best I can tell , they don't show an underneath shot like they do the MP tray .

Yea, you guys are correct! I didn't look close enough the first time. But now I'm curious why they wouldn't have cut out the solid part of the tray. It would seem that the screen could shield the sump oil from the windage being generated. Unless the tray helps keep oil sloshing around on accelleration from splashing up? Either way, I like their stuff and have their dual-sided scraper on my 360 with no tray.

I have a IJ scrapper and Milidon 32000 stock stroke windage tray. The tray clears the 4.25 arm without modification w/ .25" girdle. I custom fit the scrapper that Kevin made from a pattern that I sent to him. Like Mike says, its not a five minute job fitting it. I located the girdle, tray and scrapper to the block with pins. I have full time, unrestricted oiling to the rockers, and normally shift at 6500, but it has been 6800+ several times with no fluctuation in the oil pressure.
I cannot say if it made a difference, and if it did, how much.

I use their scraper without a tray and the oil pressure is very solid with no fluctuation.

Haven't used the product, but Johnson is a very bright and well-informed guy - read some of his posts at http://speedtalk.com/

I'm not sure of what's happening in the pan, but a few questions? Is the speed at which an oil droplet strikes the screen a function of the counterweight OD × engine speed, viz. "flung off" by speed in f/s at the OD? Is there a rule-of-thumb on how far below the CW a screen becomes less critical?

MIT has two theses on file that examine windage tray application in a Ford V6. Parts of the research in these papers were published by the SAE as well. http://hdl.handle.net/1721.1/38713 http://hdl.handle.net/1721.1/32358 http://papers.sae.org/2007-01-4109http://papers.sae.org/2004-01-2913Be aware that Porsche did the original engineering for the engine and sump and Ford altered the approach, basically increasing the oil fill. There are some (serendipitous) errors in analysis in the Baran SAE paper. In the mid 1970s, Mercedes presented an SAE paper (750051) discussing many topics that would be relevant in this discussion. I have the sense that they were trying to help Porsche in their travails with the 928 V8 and windage control.
