My buddy fairly recently bought a chassis dyno and finally blew the dust and cobwebs off my junk... found 40hp on the motor (was way lean) and found over 100hp on the bottle (was way fat) anyways my 496" street motor with a solid flat tappet cam, flat top pistons and out of the box edelbrocks made 517 hp to the tires on motor and 837 hp on the unit... still have some tuning in it too!!! Not bad huh?

Thanks guys... yes, by unit I mean on the bottle, I gained 100hp over my initial nitrous jetting, just by leaning it out a bit... it was WAY fat... chassis dynos are awesome...

Chassis dynos are mostly a joke and give crazy numbers to say the least. Jason Pettis was explaining how they measure the ability to move the wheels at a certain amount of time and effort and that`s why my hi-9-sec car only put down 485 hp and torque and my buddys mid 10-sec car put down 550...... Not bagging on your numbers but, what does it run at the track as you`ve claimed to have a 9-sec street car but where`s the time slip increments for our viewing pleasure.

Since my last time slip was mentioned, it was 2 years ago at Barona with more weight and 100 less HP... 1.32 60 ft, 6.20 @ 113mph... Car has a 3.73 gear so it pulls pretty hard out the back... (in the 1/4 on the street)

I never put much stock in the numbers off our local wheel dyno...but they are a great tuning tool. If you can can find 40 horsepower they are worth the time and effort, doesn't really matter what the actual numbers are. The popular local shop uses a "half correction" factor (to sealevel).?!

All I know is, there are an aweful lot of 500+ horsepower cars that come off that dyno that only run 12s at the dragstrip. Since my engine only made 430 on the dyno it should read less at the wheels, but running 11.50s it would probably show over 600 on that dyno!

No hate here just don`t put much faith in chassis dynos except for afr readings, timing etc. Your car`s faster than mine based on those et`s but, all motor for me .............for now.
