So is my T5 4 speed worth more in black than T5?

Not to me because color changes are a turn off

I agree with the above. When i see any A,B,E, even C body cars in rare colors such as A4, X9, FM3, i say to myself, wow that's rare lets go check it out. FIRST thing i check is the fender tag, if it's a color change from original, even if it's a rare color to another rare color, it's still a turn off to me. Kinda DEFLATES my excitement for that car!...........My 2nd vote, keep it A4, stripe delete with the R/T emblems is really COOL!

I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

I dont remember this thread asking if Dave should change the color or not. He just wanted to document his restoration for others to see. Lets get back to what this thread was originally about before he loses interest.

I hope you leave the power bulge hood, I think those are cooler than the now more common ramcharger hoods. More unique looking these days.

For me to do an accurate hemi recreation on this car, I have to run the ramcharger hood as it was standard on 69 hemi b bodies( minus the charger ).
That doesnt bother me one bit as I prefer the ramcharger hood hands down.

The '70 Coronet power bulge hood looks 10x better than the '69 standard hood but both are a distant second to the N96 Ramcharger hood.......it's one of the reasons I like Dodges over Plymouths......It also doesn't hurt that the Hemi came standard with the Ramcharger.

Dave

I like them so much that I'm on the second one for my Superbee! ....but that's another story

Build the car like you want.. The thought of somebody spotting a gorgeous triple black Hemi Bee from across the feild mouth watering each step they get closer to it, adrenalin rushing in through their veins as the look the car over. It's mint and i mean perfect. The detail is second to none, but wait as he looks over the fender the tag says it ain't a real black car. This thing sucks and he walks away like he was just rapped... LoL this would have been my dream car, damn...

black is cool but i think you're nuts for not staying with the a4 silver. such a cool color, green tint and all.

Well I hope I didn't start this "paint it silver" slant to this thread. I was just curious why he wanted to change. It's his car, paint it what ever color he wants. Black is still my favorite color.

Yep, not much progress to post on bodywork. I have been pretty busy with work and house projects recently too like remodeling the entire bathroom . I have finished up the rear axle and springs are almost done too.

The axle housing is a super minty 8 3/4 piece from a low mile 69 Charger. I had the housing hot tanked, bead blasted and powder coated 30% gloss black. I had DTS build the 489 center section from scratch for me. I gave them the case cleaned and finished in an epoxy cast paint. All in all it is a pretty stout piece with a Detroit trutrack differential, Strange 430 ring an pinion, crush sleeve eliminator and a 7290 yoke from Mancini racing. The axles are Strange 30 spline units with non adjustable green bearings. The backing plates a re N.O.S pieces courtesy of Rich Ehrenberg. All brake shoes and hardware are NAPA parts. I got lucky with the e brake levers, I found them in a parts bin of stuff I removed from my old 69 R/T droptop 4 years ago. The e brake cables, brake lines, brake tee, vent bolt and hose are all from Inline tube. The lines took a little to get right, but the fit ok now. I located a new set of 11 x 2.5 drums to put on as well. I took some liberties with the assembly line art work, but I think it looks pretty good.

Next is the front steering and suspension. I have the K frame powder coated as well and I have been slowly aquiring pieces here and there. First things first though, sod and more sod for the front yard

Here is a few pictures of the axle buttoned up.
