Question nr.1

I have read somewhere that it should be two 7-hole wire ties just for the horn wires.

Can someone confirm that?

Question nr.2

Should the "ground bolt" for the roadlamps/negative battery cable be painted in body color?

And is this the correct bolt for this application?

Question nr.3

The brake master cylinder cap in the picture, what original color should it have from the factory?

And is the cap in the picture correct for a 71 cuda w/o power brakes?

that all for now!

Your horn and radiator captive washer bolts should be black phosphate and your master cylinder cap I believe ? should be dichromate. Not sure on wire looms ? Some others will come in with answers.

wiring looms I know are longer on E-bodies but for the life of me can't remeber if originals were 7 or 9 hole.

battery to radiator support ground bolt is clear zinc not body color

master cap I think was originally dark grey phosphate on 71's with drum brakes.

Also, in regards to the horn bolts, I've seen both these dark bronze AND black phosphate plating on originals . so imo, both would be correct.

From my research on 71 cars the wire loom is the shorter 5 hole by the horn.

Ok,do you know if there should be longer wire looms (7-9 holes) anywhere else.. Like on the driver side?

Also like to hear more opinions about the master cylinder cap. (question nr.3)

My 71 Challenger ( build date 12-70) with the original wire harness has two 7 hole wire ties on the horn part of the harness and two 7 hole wire ties on the harness on the drivers side for starter/headlights part of the harness. Hope that helps.

Original pieces on my 71 340 Cuda convertible:

Wire Straps: All are 7 hole.

Ground cable bolt: Clear (Silver) Zinc

Master Cylinder Cap: Dark Grey Phosphate

Horn Bolts: I have PERSONALLY never seen these in black phosphate, but it certainly could have occurred. Generally, they are found in various shades of black zinc or brown zinc dichromate.

Note on the cap: There are at least 5 different cap configurations (reservoir venting and lettering differences) for this type of master cylinder. The large lettering font cap with NO BALANCE TUBE between the reservoirs is the most common assembly line cap.
