are they making better power than hooker supercomps? fitment? groundclearance? overall servicefriendly?

this section have been prety quiet for a few days and is nothing like it used to be but hope there is some answers anyway.. are people stuck in their shops working on there racecars this time of the year or just hiding from the penguins and hippos maybe even a zombie invasion?

I can't answer the power question but I loved mine on my small block a body. Just cut the flanges and I could remove them and reinstall them without even lifting the car. They may rub a little in the steering linkage but it's minor and ground clearance isn't great but then what header is.

had them on my w2 motor, 1-7/8 x 3-1/2 collector, in my duster.all tubes slip on annd fit nice. can remove the pipes and leave the motor in place! never use hookers again. they were 550.00 back when i bought them about 10 years ago. # 1 pipe goes under the k frame and #s 7&8 go through the fender. cut a 3" hole for the pipes in the fender. good luck. mark

I can't comment on the Hookers but love my Hedmans. I have no ground clearence issues and as mentioned they go on very easy. Also as already posted cut the flanges closer to the tubs, it looks cleaner nad makes them easier to install.

I love the Hedman hustler headers.... We used a set on my father-in-laws Duster (my suggestion) and they are nice...
IMO
Made much better than the hooker, seems those things will rust out in no time flat...just a few years..
I also think they will make more power, or atleast more peak power. I havent measure but its easy to see how long the primary tube length is on the hookers... Probably close to 40" LOL.. Guess that was the route years ago with stock heads and stock CID engines to help maybe help mid range and low end torque...
But Im no expert...

Matt and I have 2 sets in use right now and the only issue we both had was we had to modify one header tube under the car because we both use a milidon 8 quart oil pan. It was either modify the tube or remove the pan and do a major modification. We both decided on using a 4 pound hammer on the tube. Can't see it till you climb under the car. If I needed another set of headers I would buy these again.

Ive got them on mine as well. Alot easier than the hookers that I had. Same as everyone else said, cut the tubes.

emailed hedman about what partnumber they recomend and they said their headers wouldnt seal properly with my heads (edelbock rpm) and pointed me towards TTI, so i gues i will build my own then

its realy a shame since they seem to make a very nice product.

Funny, there have been instances that tti headers don't seal to ported ede heads too...

Usually the end ports. Just have to hit the sealing bead with some additional welds. If it's interference with head/flange between ports, that disappears anyways.

I know mine came with a adapter plate that bolted to the head that changed the bolt pattern from factory to a w2/w5 pattern, but mine are also a 2" tube to a 3 1/2" collector for an A body, also A milodon pan that is a kick-out style won't work.

Boy I better run out to the shop an remove my headmen headers on both cars that have been in use with Edelbrock rpm heads for the last 3 years.

you know that pic makes me think that they may even fit a car with powersteering if just one pipe (#5) was relocated alitle back

I haven't had very good luck dealing with hedman either. I have a set of w2 huslers on my car now with my w 5 heads. I had to cut off the w2 flanges and laser jet some new flanges and tig them on to my w2 headers to fit my w5 heads. The headers are about shot from being old and I wanted a new set. I called them and asked if they would sell me a new w2 set of headers without being welded up and without the w2 flanges. They said no way and that they would be missing out on a sale of a set of headers. What the heck????????? Ya they will. From me. I am just going to build my own set from scratch.

Did you see the photos I posted? Those are Edlebrock heads and have never had any leaking issues, I only use Fel-Pro gaskets though.

They will work with a Milodon pan if you section the side of the pan . It's the only pan I'll run on the street, never bumped one yet.
