6 or 7 months ago I bought an Autometer gauge cluster (Oil Press., Volts, and Water Temp.) I cannot find a suitable location for the probe on the water temp gauge. The hole on my intake manifold is way too small (Edelbrock LD340). The car is a 1970 Dart Custom with a 318 motor out of a 1971 Challenger. This is my first old mopar and I am fairly new at mechanical work so I may be missing something obvious, but I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks.

From memory there was another hole along with the 1/8 npt one, think maybe 3/8npt or larger? that would be perfect for the sending unit (with the right size adapter)

There is an adapter to fit the hole.Advance has them as I got 3 there for the BBs and SBs.The adapter has a ridge inside for the mechanical probe to seat on so it seals.Rocky

I have never seen an adapter that will allow the probe to fit properly into the small hole that the OEM sender fits into in the intake. If sensor probe should be continuously in the full flow of the coolant. the more adapters you use the more it raises the probe out of the coolant flow and more probablility you will have of it sitting in an air pocket and not giving a correct reading. If you aren't using the heater use this hole and the fittings that come with the unit will work fine or have some one drill and tap the OEM hole and fit the probe properly.
