Kinda small pic, but looks like where the shift-shaft seal goes perhaps ?

http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/ma727904518s.html Mancini (amoungst other places I am sure..) has the seal..

I believe the make a special puller to get it out, but you might be able to use something else, then a socket to install the new one.

(assuming that is the seal..it is under where the shift linkage and kickdown linkage all connect to the valve body..)

Need to drop the valve body. Tap out seal with a punch or screwdriver from bottom and install new one from the top. Use a 15/16 inch socket to tap new one in. Good practice to do this everytime the valve body is dropped, Like doing the water pump when you do the timing belt on a FWD.

I've owned the 727 version of that tool for twenty five plus years, It's fine on a truck or van but theres very little room to use it on a car... Pull the pan & drip the valve body, while your there replace the kickdown lever seal & the dipstick "O"ring also buy the reusable pan gasket at your Mopar dealer...

Or chainsaw a hole in the floor and change it while sitting in the driver seat

Agreed, you might as well use a hole saw and cut your floorpan to get access for that tool. Dropping the pan shouldnt be a problem with headers, just a little dirty.

Shifter shaft seal(same for 727/904). As mentioned drop VB & can use some allthread & flat washers & socket to draw the new seal down from the top(& poke the old one out from the bottom)

There are 2 seals , both require linkage removal and one MAY require you to remove the valve body .

There is a seal in the case , that one can be done withthe special tool , there is also one between the gear selector and the throttle valve control shaft , incorrectly called kickdown , that one you ony need to remove the top lever , an e clip and the washer , seal is under it , becareful you don't let it drop should you decide to try it with the VB in the trans . clean the shafts and that area good before pulling the seal that way you don't get dirt in under the seals or damage the seals sliding them back over rusty gritty shafts .

There is a tool that you can use to pull the old seal out and put a new one in without dropping the pan. It will only replace the outer seal, but is usually good enough.
KD tools used to sell it.

Is it an o-ring or seal? Any help with a p/n of some sort.I replaced the shift shaft seal with marginal success,so Id like to replace that seal also. Not to hi-jack but thanks for any info.

ones a small seal looks like a mini tranny seal

the other one, throttle valve shaft seal, looks like a mini cup for a wheel cyl

make sure it goes in the right way,cup down, flat side up aganst the washer and e clip

A-body,headers,is a pain, drop the vb and tighten the bands while you there also

as mentioned do not let the shift lever drop and let the detent ball out on the vb, that e clip is holding it together

watch for the servo falling out when ya drop the vb and some times it has a spring in there too

Here's what the two shift shaft seals look like, large one goes in the case and the smaller one goes in the shift shaft and seals the inner shaft.

Here's what I did, no reason to drop the pan.

Where can I pick up one of the small seals? I had a hard enough time getting someone competent to look up the shift shaft seal.
