Has anyone fitted a modern 4x10 in the center that hooks to a modern head unit, sounds good and does not need any cutting of the frame??
Yes, I used a Kenwood KFC 415C 4 x 10 speaker in the middle. I even used the original bracket, I just had to flip the bracket over and it bolted right up.

Just be sure if you are using a factory radio, to ALWAYS use 8 - 10 ohm speakers only . A modern 4 ohm speaker can and will damage your vintage radio over a period of time .
