Anyone have any 1957-58 392 Hemi motor mounts laying around that they want to sell? We are installing a 392 Hemi into a 1958 Plymouth and the 318 Poly mounts won't work without quite a bit of modification. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks! PM me with info.

The 318 mounts should work. Specifically what problems are you running into (pictures would help)? Are using the 57-58 392 center sump pan (it's the only one that will fit the body)?

As I said in my post on another site, the 318 mounts you have should work. That is provided your 58 was an V8 car to begin with and the motor mount cans are for the Poly and not Big Block.

Savoy your mounts will bolt to the block but won't come close to fitting the frame mounts. Here is what the engine cans look like. there is a right and left, and it does matter if they are mounted to the front or rear of the engine mount lugs cast into the block.

These are the actual mount parts. The studs are not centered and the mounts may need to be twisted in order to fit down into the slots in the frame mounts.

".....318 Poly mounts won't work without quite a bit of modification...."

If push come to shove won't work,or mount cans you have really wont work, I would take a cut off wheel and cut the welds holding the frame mounts to the crossmember. Then bolt the cans, motor mounts and frame mounts to the engine, set everything in where it needs to be and re-weld the frame mounts back on the frame.

This is the pan that is required to clear the crossmember and steering.

"...how do you like those adjustable freeze plugs ???..."

Well they don't leak so I guess I like them

I don't think they have any real advantage over the OE disc type but they came with the rebuild parts from Hot Heads. They are made by Dorman so they should be available anywhere.

Personally I think their real big advantage is as an in-car replacement for a leaking plug. A lot of times there is not enough room to get a hammer in to collapse the center when replacing one once the engine is in the car.

I always use a little red locktite on metal freeze plugs no matter what style.

thanks for the reply,,the reason i asked,, i bought a set from hot heads,,after buying the stainless type hot heads makes, they use O RINGS,,and i didnt have any luck with them,,,no instructions with them,,, some one else told me they had to use a sealant with them,,hot heads claims not,,,

as you said advantage getting a hammer in there with the orignal style,,,the motor i have 241 hemi had orignal style in it,,but are brass,,i cant imagine the brass ones working properly they are to soft to spread out when smacked with a hammer,,they had them totally covered with J,B,WELD,, one of my bores has the ridge broke out of it,,im hoping this style cures my problems,, did you put the red lock tite around the edge as a sealant ?? i have not taken mine out of the package yet,,,thanks for any information

Yup. As I said, I do this on all the metal plugs I install, cup, disc or these. I don't know that it's really necessary, just something I've been doing for the last 20 years assemblying engines.

I would suggest that if you can you probably will want to get a small piece of sandpaper in there to clean the bore if you can.
