I need a severe duty rocker arm for a sm bk for circle track ,years ago i always used 273 rockers ,tried Harland Sharp once ,it didn,t work out to well ,put some 273 rockers on a street car once ,bought a set of new Alinmun rockers and it really woke car up ,motor sounded so much crisper ,I then relized how far 273 rockers were off in ratio ,I need a steel rocker ,can be roller tip ,like comps magnum rockers ,no alinmun ,Is there any horsepower gain using a roller tip versus a doctile like a crane ,these comps are awful pricey ,Im all ears

No real HP gain with the roller(that you can really
measure)... but they do help guide wear on larger
lift cams... cant help with any good steel rockers...
all I use are TDs and they are alum

I have to use a Oem head ,i am using 308 castings ,no port work ,valve size can be opened up ,we are using chevy style smaller stem stainless steel valve ,I can use a steel roller tip rocker arm ,just trying to decide on whitch one ,a doctile aftermarket like isky or crane ,send my 273 rockers in to rocker arm specialists and have them corrected or buy a set of comp cams ultra magnums i beleive ,i,m nervous about roller tip rockers arms in a circle track engine ,they can be hard on parts ,but if there is some horsepower there in a roller tip we can use it ,i just don,t see it as rocker arms manufactures claim horsepower gains with them ,is there any facts to this ,anybody have any hard evidence

The big thing that they MIGHT try saying is they make
more HP over stock rockers... well that would be a
true statement ... most stock rockers are shorter
than what the factory said... as in 1.3 ratio and
the aftermarket would be 1.5 so thats added lift

I have a set of PRW stainless rockers. They were pretty inexpensive. They are bushed for the shaft with roller tips. I was afraid they were total junk but they've been working for a few years with no problems. I searched them on here and there are some other people using them too with no complaints. Of course stay away from the cheap aluminum ones. And if you get the PRWs check over the adjusters they seem to be the weak link on these.
