Is anyone familar with this. I got in the wife's SRT8 Charger the other day and the wheel PSI indicator was on. It indicated the PSI for all the tires including the tire that I guess was the lowested and triggered the warning. I put air in the tires, indicator went out. But at almost the same time I got an OIL PSI indicator that came on. It had a small pic of an oil can and a reading of 60PSI on a bar graph. This is the first I have heard of this and I question why it is on. I moved the car to a level surface and checked the oil level. It was marginally low. I was fortunate that I had some Mobil 1 O-40w in the garage so I topped it off. The reading seems the same 60 psi. I am not sure of the appropriate OIL PSI is should have at idle, nor what might cause the indicator to come on...oil pump?

Any ideas?

I went to mitchell repair and looked at oil pressure specs for a '09 charger srt8. It shows you should have 4psi at idle and 25-110psi @ 3000 rpm.

Good info. Wonder what would cause the higher pressure at idle? Possibly an obstruction, maybe. hmm.

After doing some more research, 4 psi warmed up at idle is a minimum spec. A good idle oil pressure for the 6.1 seems to be from around 22-28 psi. Chrysler recommends a full synthetic SAE 0w-40 or equivalent

Not pointing fingers, but who services this car? It takes many months for them to get that low unchecked. The wheel sensor warning comes on about 25 psi(not the safest and not good for the tires, but ok at city speed), that's 10 psi below the required for a 245x45x20 tire. It only takes 5 seconds to check on the dash display. Now the oil light. As said prior, 0w40 synthetic every 3,000 miles. It's good for 5,000, but the "Dealers Service Required" message will display for 10 seconds at every start-up after the 3,000 mile computer reset. Unless there is a computer or sensor glitch, I would say wrong oil or lack of timely service or both. Unknown driving habits and engine mileage might also play into this. How much oil did you add? The 6.1 holds 8 quarts. I don't know for sure, but I don't think the light would come on if less than 1 quart low.

Well to be truthful I did not even know the car had tire pressure monitor gauge. It's my wife's car. That being said the tires never looked low. It just got cold around here so I think the temp didn't help. Air them up with my handi tire gauge. All good. For the oil changes and maintenance, I let te dealer handle that. Last oil change included the appropriate mobil 1. Mighty expensive too! They're proud of it.anyway the car has 42,000 miles. I took it for a drive yesterday, gingerly. When I got in it idled at 60psi cold. I took it down the street. 1000-2000rpm and still around 60psi. Once it warmed up the idle psi was around 27psi and at 1000-2000 rpm it was steady around55-60 psi. It seems to run fine and as I said before had oil. It was basically at the top of the safe zone on the Dioscuri or just a hair below the top line,so I just topped it off. So I don't think it is a low oil issue. But why is the oil pressure indicator on? I have no idea why or what the correct pressures should be. Unless it is a gauge monitor issue.

Ok, Im embarrassed to admit this, but in the interest of full disclosure.... I finally figured out what is going on with the car. As I said previously I was concerned with why the oil monitor screen was on in the dash and here is what I determined. The car kicked on the tire pressure indicator/warning when one of the tires got low. So after giving her some instructions and things to check she drove the car home. The next day I drove the car to see if the indicator would return and it did. So I added air to the offending tire at the local gas station. However, I left and the indicator was still on. I guess those little pumps dont put out that much ari in the cold. I park the car and go work on other projects. Unknown to me, the wife was playing with the different screens on the car to learn more about it and apparently had stopped on the oil pressure monitor screen. Fast forward to the next day, I finally track down my fancy tire gauge and pull out the air hose. I go and properly air up each tire to the correct PSI. I take for a test drive and the Tire PSI indicator/warning is gone. However, at the same time it the oil monitor screen appeared to "pop up" on me. ---Like I said it appeared to pop up. In actualality, it was merely in the background while the tire pressure psi indicator was on top of it. So this whole time I have been worried about the dang thing being on and it was as simple and hitting a coupld dang buttons. I feel silly, but I guess it gave me more of an opportunity to learn about the car and find out what it does. So everything was normal. Thanks for the help anyway..

I actually went through the manual, but you would be surprised at how easy it was to overlook when I was searching for what I thought had happened. But at least it did not cost me money to figure out.
