The welder is going to show up Mon Morning, so I thought that I would use my engine hoist to raise the frame so it wouldn't be so hard to weld.

Plumbed in the brake lines and installed adel clamps to secure the lines. Also installed the center link, idler arm and pass side tie rod assembly.

Friend of mine said that I should highlight the valve covers after I painted them black wrinkle. So I used a sanding block and crocus cloth to remove the paint off of the highlighted Indy Logo.

Wow!! That really looks good I am going to redo my 4x4 frame next year and hope it looks half as good as yours. Keep up the good work!! That garage looks more like a vehicle bedroom than a garage

Thanks guys; I spend so much time in the garage that my wife says I might as well move a bed out there.

Anyway I should be able to get the front crossmember welded tomorrow morning then I can press on with the rest of the frontend...

what brake system are you going to be using? Manual or power? I dont think you are going to get even the small diameter power booster to clear those valve covers.

Are you going to use a relocation kit, or

If the heater box is an issue, and you want some heat, this item might help.

If you buy just the inside the cabin part, and plumb it into your original heater hose lines. You will have heat, in a nice compact unit.

Heck you may even be able to duct it so the vents work.

hp383, thanks for the good info and link on the heater.
Well Owen and his welding truck showed up this morning and he did an outstanding job on welding the bottom of the k member that had been seperated from the factory. Finished painting the front of the frame, installed a resealed PS box, and pass tie rod assembly.

BTW, does anyone have a parking brake cable bell crank that is not frozen that they want to sell? I heated mine to red hot and pounded like crazy and the bolt maybe moved a 32nd of an inch. If I could just get the bolt and bushings out I was planning on replacing the bushings with roller bearings if I could find a set that diameter. Anyway, let me know if anyone has one that they would be willing to part with. Thanks

As Harry mentioned the 89-93 Diesel motor mounts are a bolt in fit for the /6 and v8 engines.

I used them on my 440 swap in the Ramcharger. They are a tad taller, maybe 3/16 to 1/4 inch. But they have more material, and are very tough. Also they have the locking tabs so if they do fail, the motor wont jump out and head down the road by itself.

Surprisingly the mount on the left is the cheaper Anchor #2710 and it has more material, and is better than the more expensive NAPA mount.

The middle is the stock, factory mount, well torn.

For more info, and a followup on the mounts performance after racing, follow the link:

Thanks guys for the info on the mounts; it's clear that the diesel mounts are the way to go as, like you stated, there is rubber material between the locking tabs. Again, thanks a bunch.

Well, I checked 3 stores that had the Anchor 2710 mounts and all of them were the same; seems like now there is no material bewteen the locking tabs like in the picture. I bought a set anyway as there is almost twice as much material in the diesel mounts versus the stock mounts. Hopefully the increase in height will not affect the mounting of the motor.

The extra height shouldn't hurt. As i said these are what I have in my 93 Ramchager that I had swapped to a 440.
