"i have been reading this thread and i really need to ask why all this attention is being paid to who has the fastest n/ss car.why does it matter??.its a index class.the better question is who is the better driver/tuner.thats what the class is about.i have been racing index classes for fifteen years and dont recall the fastest index cars winning the champonship every year.all this smack talk is starting to make you guys sound like those atention whores who race heads up classes.i have met so many nice people who race n/ss and nostalgia muscle car along with a few jerks.but most come to race have fun and enjoy each others company.just one more gripe and i will let the flaming begin.i dont feel that 14x32 tires and sheet metal intake fit the nostalgia theme and should not be allowed in any n/ss class even afx."
Well said. One of the beauties of NSS racing is that allows us all to relive the past without the intensity and headaches, and, yes, jerks, that populate class racing. All "who's the fastest" proves is who has the most money, and spends it in the right places. There are plenty faster than me, and I couldn't care less. What you "who's faster guys" are hung up is not NSS racing.

The only thing I disagree with is the sheetmetal intakes and 14x32. Big tires have been used on superstock cars since the 70's. Hardly a trick of the week. If big tires and sheet metal intakes are legal you open up your event to a ton more cars. Just about every NHRA and IHRA superstock car has big tires and a fab intake. Isn't it a good idea for the survivial of the class to get car counts? Most of the biggest gripes i see on this website is lack of payouts at these mopar only events. Most of the lack of payouts stem from lack of car counts. The class is a dial in anyway, why not loosen up the rules.

I agree with HemiDart, NMCA needs to look to make some changes. I have a 1970 Hemi Challenger and have tried for four years to get NMCA rules team to open up the rules to let 1970 & 1971 big block cars into NMCA NSS. The answer I get back is they look at it, but they don't want to let any new body styles in NSS, which to me the cars were talking about are 40 years old. The rules team keeps thinking that letting in two more years would ruin the NSS for all the racers. I have talked to many of the racers that run NMCA NSS and they don't understand it either. Most racers don't care, they want a place to race and NMCA does a great job taking care of the racers and has good sponsors support. I agree with the 10.5 tires size, so that the guys don't have to cut up these orginal cars fi they don't want to. Not trying to steal this tread. Just needed to agree with HemiDart. Thanks / Gary
Why not race Nostalgia Muscle Car then? Same organization and format, just a different class.

I think since they can run sheetmetal intakes in the FX Class why not run a 14x32 and about letting more cars run in the class would be great it would help the purse and car count... Im sure there are plenty of cars that have legal cars but they have a big tire and cant run because of that reason...

You could be like hemifred and you use the converter as your rev limiter

I have a sheetmetal intake big tire ss/ car that i would like to attend some of the nss races. It would be hard to change my engine combo but I could easily change to a 10.5w tire and make that work. Asfar as the trans break that would be harder to disconnect ccuase i still need to get reverse. It would be easy to police if someone was using one because they could hear the 2 step at the line if they did.
I have the same issue as far as transbrake I need to have it hooked up for reverse.. I'm sure they can all hear that at the line....

I am pretty sure what he is saying is Hemifred does not use a two step. He just sets the brake and floors the throttle. The stall of his converter keep him from over revving.

I think it's time to build me a HEMI NNS car
why would you want to go that s l o w ? i drove a friends 64 sport fury and i was looking for something to do with all the extra time i had.
When it's 98 degrees I can dial down and wear a single layer suit.
and of course to have other kids to play with because in nostalgia pro you have no one to play with so you have to play with yourself
So Fred NSS your thinking? I think its a good move...
