The cone-type SG unit usually found in the 489 has a one-piece thrust block, the earlier clutch-type SG has the two-piece thrust buttons.

Sounds like the shim one installs in a used up cone unit to eek a little more life out of it because they are technically not rebuildable. Do yourself a favor and epoxy a couple magnets below the oil level off to the sides of the ring gear to catch the metal chips that POS is going to make everytime you take a corner .
