I just picked this car up a week ago and wanted to share it. it was listed here on moparts and also ebay for a while. its pretty much all original with the #'s matching drive train. most of the body is original with exception of the grill, drivers fender, bumper and hood paint due to the original owner hitting a pig with it in the late 70's. my plan is to correct a few issues with it and just drive it. I dont really think Im going to full on restore this one. it actually drives suprisingly nice. original options include hemi orange paint, blk vinal top, blk bench with center arm rest, side and tail stripe, duel exhaust with tips, tach, ralley wheels, light package and am radio. everthing works with the exception of the temp gauge. Ill post a few pictures. if anyone wants any specific shots, let me know. thanks! -kevin

interior is exceptionaly clean. a few small tears in the headliner is pretty much the extent of it. aftermarket radio under the dash and an extra temp gauge.

drivers side firewall/ inner fender. notice the yellow 'x' opposed to the blob. there is also another yellow 'x' between the washer bottle and firewall for some reason?

The most delicate details are the first to get lost in an engine clean up effort, stuff like chalk marks and ink stamps usually die first. It looks like you have a good opportunity to get some great details from your engine. The throttle cable had an ink date code stamping on the shiney silver ferral portion, IT'S VERY delicate and easy to wipe off, does yours still have it? Can you see any signs of a soft green paint daub there? Some other questions: What color is your throttle return spring? Coil ink stamp date code? Plug wire date codes Heater hose part#'s/dates Radiator hoses part#'s/Dates Distributor date code? Alternator casting dates/part#s/Date codes Starter casting dates/part#s/Date codes Carb Date code? Fuel pump date code? Temp sender date code? Oil sender date code? Power steering pressure hose date Exhaust manifolds casting dates Engine mount rubber casting dates (yes they have them!) Any signs of paint on the negative battery cable? What color is the dip stick handle? That's just a start, please list all of the parts date codes as you can, many seemingly obscure engine componants have them, see my "Totally Anal 340 thread" for details if you aren't sure of of what to look for.

That's a neat Duster. If I ever do another car, it will be a 340 Duster or Demon.

dont worry, Ive been on that thread probably a hundred times lol. I plan on getting all of the dates codes off the car. I want to take it to my nieghbor who has a car hoist. I hope to get around to it this weekend. also, I didn't plan on cleaning it up for that particular reason some of the stuff mentioned in your questions have been changed like motor mounts, fuel pump and radiator hoses. thanks! -kevin

This car looks like the car that was pulled out of a barn in Iowa earlier this year, by a guy who was more of a B body guy, and did some cleanup, drove it some, then put it up for sale on forabodiesonly.
Same car?

I see orange bolts on the alt bracket... Mines the same way. What do you plan on doing to it? If it were mine I'd replace the grille, work as much magic as possible into getting it shiney, replace the top and drive it.

passenger side same thing plus a little rust hole below the tail light (odd place?) and typical trunk lid rust.. thats pretty much all of the rust issues on this car.

roof is really clean. original owner removed the top in the 70's and subsequently saves the roof from rotting out.

I really wish I could buy this car right now. I see some of the same details mine has, such as the semi painted rear marker light retainers. Do you have any pics of the ECS system under the car, mainly the shield and what kind of fasteners are used to mount it? Have you found any inspection marks or paint daubs on it?

quote; "see some of the same details mine has, such as the semi painted rear marker light retainer" Very interesting, i haven't seen any examples of painted or semi painted rear marker light retainers. Does it look like they were taped off when the inside of the trunk was painted? Is the trunk latch painted? I know some were and some weren't.

On mine,
The marker light retainers had what looked like heavy overspray rather than being fully painted. But the quarter panels were all red and were painted with the marker housings out.
The latch mechanism wasn't painted, mounting bolts were painted. The catch attached to the decklid was painted.
As were mine on my 71 340 Duster (also an LA plant car). Did you take pics of your housings and the painted metal underneath them?
