i asked the other week what i could hope to gain with a cam and jetting change to Greg's Roadrunner
Well the results are in.
We raced at the Mopar rumble on Sunday, yesterday.Really hot day, temps from 86F in the morning to 96F early afternoon DA from 2600 -3300
My car and Steve's Dart were both a bit over a 1/10th off, though i did still pull good mph at 119.06 early before dropping back to low 118's.
After a couple of runs getting used to things Greg ended up running 11.34 and a 118.46mph
so he picked up from 11.48 and the 116's which was run at 13-1500DA
i know there is more, vert and suspension but money
thanks for all the help and ideas
Here is a link to some photos of the day,i will link some video soon

i also have to say it was a good day for me as i won the big block class beating a friend,Darren, who's car i set up/built

Under equal conditions i would think that would be at least 2/10's, which isn't bad.

Dude... I think it's time I pointed out one critical piece of information that you have neglected to tell the members here.
When that car was running it's 11.49 it was falling over because it had fuel starvation problems due to the stock pump and fuel line. I should know because I upgraded it for him.. Remember??
Now I know you changed the cam and fiddled with the jetting but the big killer was the fuel system and the car was not tested after it was upgraded, before the new cam went in.
P.S...Claiming all the credit for the performance increase due to the cam etc is a little rich..

Hm, Either way you tuned it is all good 11.30's and 3800 lbs is a good number in my book. Learning as you go is what a drag racer enjoy being competitive.

Whilst i would agree with you to a degree, 116 mph is right in line for an 11.48.

ok, it's a great street car/ race car,, but
if I had a 500 + motor, it ran 11.30-11.40, I would have to figure there something wrong here, only because I have had 440 run there that where pretty mild, , but if everyone happy ,, then I'm happy for everyone to! ,,

It may have a 500 motor but at 3800#, it's no lightweight and a street car is always a compromise.

Just thought it was time to get the whole story out about what was going on with this car instead of part of it. You can't really make back to back comparisons for cams etc when you also have fuel supply issues to deal with.

I must agree with you even a heavy weight with those cubes should run a 10 of some sort, the converter sounds big enough but gee that cam sounds like the one im my mums car

Ok , a 511 cube motor on a 3200 # car can run ,( when right!) in the 9s,,(I think deep) add 600# and take away mm over a full sec? plus some !
Ok he has a street car, i raced a 66 coronet 440 motor 410 gears street car full trim, seats, dash , 16 gallon fuel cell, the car is 3875 #, we run 11-0s at 126, 127 mph A 440 MOTOR! I get it dialed in be in the 10s we are having issues with the cal trak bars!
but like I said if he is happy, then I'm happy !
