I am almost finished with restoration of my superbird that i've had for 21 years. I can't find a black plastic 3 spoke steering wheel anywhere. My question is will a 69 steering wheel fit on there until I find the correct one? 1970 year model has the ignition on the column and 1969 had the ignition at the dash, so I don't know if it will work.

I think it will. no reason it wouldn't. I have a blue one from a 70' charger that you could have for little or nothing, but it is not very nice...

The 69 wheel is different than 70. You should have no problem finding a correct 70 wheel on e-bay. There are usually a half dozen on there each and every month.

Biggest problem will be finding a decent one. I went through this on my Superbird. It took a couple of years of looking to find one that wasn't cracked.
Apparently, they must have changed the chemical composition of the plastic in '70, and it was not a good change!

I was told that I had to use an adapter or collar to make a 69 fit. Is that true?

Greg, I keep looking on ebay and keep finding junk. P.S. Has my radio shipped yet?

I shipped out a 70 B body AM to Hattiesburg MS. Late Monday afternoon, so it should arrive Wednesday. Without going through all my paperwork,
I assume that was yours. We did have 2 other 70 B AMs and 1 AM FM 70 B go out last week as well.
We have had over 375 Mopar radios come through here since January .
As far as the steering wheel , I am pretty sure whatever you find will need to be restored. That pretty much goes without saying. Finding an uncracked 70 B body 3 spoke steering wheel , is like finding an uncracked dash pad. 39 year old uncracked steering wheels pretty much don't exist , at least not that particular type wheel .
So be prepared for a wheel resto in your budget.
Or , if you do find one uncracked, take whatever color you can find, and dye it.

Thanks Greg. Looks like I will use a 69 until BE & A starts reproducing them. Mike says he is making 69 models now and he will modify the molds to make the 70 models soon, don't know a specific date yet. But, in the meantime, I am still looking for a 70 model if you know of anyone.
