How should I proceed with prepping a chrome air cleaner for paint? I have read some articles that say I should use 320 grit and sand away then use self etching primer. Other articles say I should sand blast it. I will be applying a black wrinkle finish that will require some heat to cure it. Any thoughts?

Blast it, you don't need to strip the plating, just etch the surface so the paint can have something to bite into,,,

same thing I've done on a few 69 GTX rear panels and tail light bezels
tape up the areas you want remain chrome and run it thru the glass bead cabinet
