We just got my brother 69 bee fired up and it's got some old mufflers that need to go. There the old round tube glass packs. Is there any out there that are simular shape that sound good but dont have the pop pop sound after you left off the gas(lol). We didnt put this muffler on the car(lol).

Any one on here ever use a thrush glasspack muffler? I wonder if that has the pop pop sound when you let off on it?

I've seen these advertised, but never hear 'em.

I have watched quite a few videos of stuff with Turbosticks (the mufflers Classic Chambered sells) and they sounds awesome in my opinion. I had one on my '97 Dakota and it sounded great but was a bit too loud for a daily driven pickup. I'm going to strongly consider putting them on my Charger when it's done.

magna flow makes stainless round mufflers called magnapacks. they have stainless steel wool in them, not fiberglass. i am not sure how they sound though. why do you need to stay with round mufflers?

We dont want to put a whole new exhaust on it and where the glass packs are on it right now there's not much roof for any thing but round. Thanks for the replys guys I'll check those out.

Walker makes a tuff turbo muffler that looks exactly like a glass pack from the outside but is baffled on the inside.

Purple Hornies are a glasspack, the pop pop could be from an out of tune condition or it's actually the way the muffler is, I can't remember not hearing a car with glasspacks pop like that when you get off the loud pedal...

I run a set of the thrush glass packs on my truck

the pop pop comes from haveing to small of a glass pack

I run headers with 2.25 pipes back to 2.5 glass packes with 2.5 tail pipes then have duel 3" 15" echo tips

mine has a nice deep rumble and has a deep throaty sound that gets real loud at WOT

never has any poping when backing down from high rpms

I will be running a set of 3" thrush glass packs bolted right to the headers and have about 4' of 3" tail piped turned out in front of the rear tires on the 88 440 truck

you might get rid of the pop pop by adding larger tail pipes after the muffs to reduce some back pressure.

sounds like you have the 2" glass packs if they do a lot of the pop pop you did not say what size yours are.

I thought popping and small backfires were from header leaks sucking air when the high rpm gas at the back of the system sucks on the flange once you let up on the pedal? (scavenging effect suddenly turned off) Waaaah-pa pap pap pap! Or do you mean the more open header sound like a race car or Harley w drag pipes? Hoo-Hah!

Why couldn't you use an implement muffler? Most tractor mufflers are round.

Tractor mufflers are probably pretty low for CFM in order to keep such a short stack quiet.
