I recently discovered that I have a pinhole in my oil pan. It is located about 3-4 inches to the left (driver side) of the drain plug. Big enough to leak when warm, small enough that I'm not losing a lot of oil.

I am looking for suggestions on how to repair this without pulling the engine.

It is a 383 in a cuda.

Anyone have some thoughts?
Thanks!

But existing is basically all I do.

DRAIN the oil ...and brake-clean the spot A BUNCH of times ... them epoxy the hole.

I did this after I found out the guy who had welded baffles into my pan had put in pin-hole in that.

JB weld or epoxy for a temporary fix. If you have a hole from rust it will only get worse. Best bet is to change the pan.

Best easy fix i ever did was brake cleaner as best as you can, and a very small tiny screw and good RTV....done that on several cars with no leak ever after that. Just cut it short and screw it in. Usually i hit my R/C screw assortment for tiny tiny machine thread screws until i find the right one.
But if you can remove the pan and weld it shut it's the best way...i did this screw on a beater, and it worked for me several times.

Unless it's an A body you don't have to pull the engine to pull the pan.

Otherwise as said you can bandaid it but it is caused by rust and is only going to get bigger till you remove the rust and weld it shut .

Thanks for the answers!
Hadn't thought about the epoxy.
Should have mentioned it isn't cause by rust, best I can see anyway. Just appears to be a small little hole.

I really thought I had to pull the engine to pull the pan. I would like to get it temporarily corrected that allows me to drive it, till I can afford to yank the engine and go through it. It see's limited use in the summers.

Please keep any more suggestions coming. These are very helpful. They are appreciated!

Seal All. I've used it on a cracked oil pan and applied it when the pan was still dripping and it did the job. Good stuff to keep in the glove box for emergency repairs since it doesn't need a clean and dry surface to stick.

Any of these fixes will work, or you could use the screw and JB Weld for a permanent fix.

I'd rather see that than trying to weld.

I fixed the rusty pan on my 84 Ram with the Right Stuff. It had at least a half dozen pin holes on the front of the pan. It's been on there for two years now and no leaks.

I repair pans with my mig all the time. if its real slow, just blast off the area real good and maybe hit it with some 150 grit and spot weld real quick like. Actually just did that on a civic about a week ago.

The epoxy/JBweld method has worked well for me and lasts a good long time if there isn't rust underneath. As posted, drain oil, clean well, sand off paint, clean again and apply the epoxy. You can sand lightly and touch up the paint after the epoxy hardens.

Clean it up good and solder it with a big electric gun.

Thank you all for the replies!

My first idea was silver solder. I don't have access to a welder either, sadly, or I think I might have tried that.

I might actually give the screw/epoxy thing a go. Sounds pretty easy and safe.

Will be able to get at it next weekend during Thanksgiving (Canadian), which gives me 3 days to screw it up.

You guys rock!

Thats right, Brutha: MIGHTY PUTTY!
Gotta get it clean though. I like the screw method. I still got a dab of Ultra Copper on my pan, come to think of it. Strange pinhole too, no dent, rust.. no burn on the inside, just a little thumbtack hole on a chrome pan.
