I'm getting bored of my 360. Looking for 450 HP and pump gas.

Talk to Jeff Patterson. He built me a stout mild 408 that in my 68 charger with 2.94 gears, a/c, power steering ran a 13.28 in hot weather.
I'm going to run it this Oct. to see if its got a 12.90 in it.

Should be able to find his sig. in the small block for sale section. Also runs a 340 duster in FAST that runs in the 11.50's

You do, built it yourself.

IMM built cast iron heads, Scat stroker kit, comp XE275HL cam, air gap, 750HP carb, TTI or Dougs headers. Should idle under 800 rpm.

Here's a 408 IMM built with full ported edelbrocks that ran 472HP with a 750HP carb. He can get the same performance with his RHS heads with less port work ($$).

Those heads weren't full out ported from what I recall. Good porting for the cam used.

450hp out of a 408-416 isn't real difficult. Just get it built right. Look at the one Brian built for the Car Craft article. 485hp/517tq with a 750dp carb. Ran 6.93-94 at 96-97, 1/8th mile in his 3300# car. You can save a few bucks here and there on that build, maybe put a milder cam in it as well depending on what you want.

Ryan Johnson in Pennsylvania. Small blocks are his specialty and is probably one of the best in the US on these. Google Shady Dell Speed Shop.

are you planning on using your existing 360 as the base for the new combo?

Hensley Racing built the engine , and it's still strong, so I think it's a good block for the build.

Hmmm. Do you just buy a $100 to $150 core std bore 360 block, machine that, and keep you current short or long block together as a proven unit?

Yeah I know. It runs good, and it's not weak. It was around 350 rear wheel on a local Mustang dyno. So I'm kinda of saddened to think about taking apart a good engine.

Drop on a plate system, shoot a 150 shot through it, you won't be bored anymore, plus its alot cheaper.

I'd keep it together or sell it, pick up another core...street car, I'd start with a magnum block, use factory roller lifters, a hughes HER3642, and basically emulate this build:

Jesse Lackman's 520HP RHS headed 408

your location, I'd probably look at hensley to do the build

100mph, Closer to 101. with a 1.94 60ft. time. Right now I'm looking at next Wed. to see if I can get that 12.90. I've changed a few things so I'm hoping for the best. Jeff wants to be there when I run also.

It was nice to meet you last weekend and I hope the tribulations with your engine are behind you.
