If I remember both chargers were 08/01. Mine is 08/07. No other cars have ever been found

I have taken apart early 72 440's and found six pak rods, but the motor was a four barrel and a U code car. Probaly using up parts.

Six pak rods were used in all '70-2 U code 440's and also used in some '73-later motorhomes with 440-3.

There used to be a '72 440-6 GTX in my area but I haven't seen it since '94-95, it was gunmetal grey with black interior, auto and a export car.

V-Code 72's exist. There are atleast 3-5 so far. I saw the one in Ron Slobes collection with my own eyes 20 years ago. V-Code 72 Charger with Air Grabber. it was also on the front of a magazine like Muscle Car Review many years ago. It was a project car. I was only 16/17 at the time when we drove down there and had a complete 1/4 cut off the side of a B5 blue 71 GTX. Still have the 1/4.

What heads did they run, what advertised compression and horse power?

V code vin? If it is it's defying the myth!

We need proof! MonsterQuest is on the way.

Really, more info, great find though if it is.

72 440-6's are really not that much of a mystery. It was planned to build them. The 72 Dodge and Plymouth data books have all the info on them. The were cancelled very early in production.

There's a WH23V2G car with an 802 SPD.

It wasn't that big of a deal. There is no mystery to the '72 440-6 cars. Factory documents indicate they were intended to be produced just like any other car. You just walked in and ordered one (While supplies last)

i found a dana 60 with a pinion snubber under a 72 D200---i recycled it into an Ebody dana 60 with 8.75 axle ends welded on----an old mopar collector told me that mopar cleans out the shelves when they dump old product---he told me that when 426 wedges werent selling (because of hemis) they were restamped 413 and dropped into newports to get rid of them----yeah your uncle harry had an old 413 that really ran----when they dumped the 8.75---a bunch got out the door under slant 6 3 speed valiants and such---tell you what when i cruise the pickaparts i look close at those 72 dodge trucks---bob

But in a '68 B-body (rr at least) Hemi with an automatic it came standard with an 8-3/4, 3.23 ratio, Open (non-Suregrip) differential right?

And what year would the 426 wedge in a B body have been out sold by Hemis so they could do this?

Yes.

What about 1969 automatic B-bodies with a Hemi engine?

And when did this change or did it?

Thanks

Yes.

All '68 automatic HEMI "street cars" had 8-3/4" rear axles. There was no OPTIONAL DANA.

The only OPTIONAL DANA 60 for an automatic HEMI (or 440) car was 4.10:1 ('69-'71)

Dan, my question about the '68 ('69) auto Hemi's was more on the Suregrip/non-Suregrip for the standard 8-3/4, 3.23 differential.

A friend loaned me his bare bones (and I mean BARE, no radio, rubber floor mat/cover, non-decor, B5 blue with blue interior) RM21 Hemi, column auto, '68 road runner back in '69 as he was working on my '69 (3.91) road runner and his '68 auto Hemi had a 3.23 open/non-Suregrip differential, I know this for sure. The first time I got on his Hemi rr and looked for the double stripes I was shocked and confused that it didn't have Suregrip.

So is it true or false that a '68 Hemi B-body with an automatic had an 8-3/4 non-Suregrip 3.23 ratio differential as standard? Thanks,

MikeR

You are correct, ordering a HEMI ('66-'71) did NOT get you a sure-grip. Both were OPTIONS.

If you wanted a HEMI, you paid for it. & If you wanted a Sure-Grip, you paid for it.

I don't believe there were any "base" cars that had a sure-grip as STANDARD equipment. Some of the "package cars" ('69 A12 - 3x2bbl, '69 A13 - a-body 440, '70 A13 - Superbird, '70 A53 - TRANS AM) included a sure-grip (D91) as part of the package.
