Very VERY Xpensive weight reduction item ...

I bought a new rubber gasket and clips, and had a flat sheet of lexan cut to fit at my local roundy round shop for $225. Yes I will install the OEM chrome also on my 62 Plymouth wagon. All windows are lexan. What a tank it was before the Sled City Fiberglass weight reduction program.

My Uncle used to make helicopter wind shields and door parts. I know they would mount the plexi glass in the fixture then it would go in the oven for a certain time. Then they would blow the wind shield. It looked like a big bubble when they were through. Ihe plexi glass was very form-able once heated to a certain point.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

On my old '62 Savoy, I made my front and rear glass with 1/8" plexiglass. I heated it with 'different' types of heat(hair dryer, electric heat gun, torch, etc.) to form it to fit the opening and used screws to hold it to the body lip. It workrd for awhile, (2-3 years) but started cracking/splitting,.in the mean time, I had found some good original pieces and replaced the plexiglass. I can't say exactly what the weight difference was, but, it was quite a bit. Although, for the time, aggravation, etc., I don't think it was worth it. Some quality lexan molded/formed ones would have gotten my attention back then if the price was right. The plexiglass did a fine job for the side windows as they were all flat pieces of glass. On the doors, I eliminated the wing glass and its frame, made the door glass to fill the whole opening,,,worked out nicely and looked modern.

On the door glass were you able to have it go up and down with a strap or just solid mount. Post car or hardtop? Was thinking of doing the same thing just not sure on solid mount or strap
I made mine solid mount, but I believe the strap setup is doable. Mine was a post car.
