Well, the other day I turned the corner to come down my street within my sub. Its a long street,,and my house is mid way down the block. As I turned the corner, there were 2 police officers ( on motorcycles )(lights on),,giving a ticket to someone they had pulled over. We have had some kids "racing" up and down our sub recently.

As soon as I turned on to my street, both officers looked up and at my car as I proceeded to "coast" toward them ,,they were 1/2 way in the street. ( my car has 3 inch exhaust, 2 chamber flows, with dumps,,,and is LOUD)...

As I approached them, I had to turn just a bit to get around them,,,both of them staring at the car, no waves, no nothing ( dark sunglasses and bike helmets on, stern face)...and then watched as I moved past them,,,my house was 3 down from where they were,,,,I pulled it in the driveway, and into the garage,,and shut the door......
By the time I got into the house, my kids had seen the lights, and were now standing on the porch.........
I sat down with my 3 year old on the porch,,,,the police saddled up their bikes,,,and started heading my way,,,,,my 3 year old waved as they approached,,,,and then they both pulled into my drive way....
I thought, aw crap,,,I am going to get a ticket for excessive noise...or something.

They pulled up,,,shut off the bikes,,,started to get off...the conversation went something like:
Police: Sir,,,how are you today
Me: Fine, everything OK down the street there ?
Police: Yup,,
Police officer#2: Hey,,,did you see a black car around here?
Me: yup...
Police #2: is it yours ?
Me: yup, I know, its kind of noisy,,,
Police#2: where is it,,? in the garage ?
Me: yes
Police#2: Well, I LOVE THAT CAR !!!
Me: wheewwww,,,didnt expect that
Police#2: why dont you open the garage and pull that thing out....
Well,,,I fired it up,,,pulled it out, and next thing I know,,,we were talking cars, motors, etc,,,come to find out,,,he has a 69Z28. He was looking at everything,,and was a great guy..very friendly, and knew alot about cars...even asked what it ran at the track.
As we walked back to the front of the house, Police officer#1 let my 3 year old Nick,,,sit on the his bike, light flashing, siren going,,,my wife was snapping pictures,,what a sight,,,,then he started giving my 10 year son pointers on how to hold his lacrosse racquet for about 10 minutes, and was tossing the ball back and forth with him on my front lawn,,,( come to find out,,,he played some serious lacross in high school and college)....
They were there for about 30min,,
My neighbor ( who hates my car ),,,saw what was going on and yells "is everything OK over there ???" (real nosey),,,i just yelled "yup, just hangin with some car buddies on the force," ( you wench, i thought)...
They were very cool,,my kids were floored,,,Told them to stop by anytime,,,and to be safe.
I enclosed some photos.

That is really cool. Most of the cops I know are really nice guys who have a tough job. Those two gentlemen sure did alot of positive PR work at your house that day. Glad they liked the car. Did they by chance give you a free burn out card or anything?

This would be so much easier if I knew what I was doing...

Enjoyed your story. Cops are people too. Always support them. They are worth their weight in gold. Even if they do give me a ticket now and then.

Cool story. Reminds of the time I got pulled over just so the cop could look at my car (and offered to buy it ).

I had a similar story happen to me. I was coming in the "gate" one night, it was actually just the checkpoint up to the cadet area. The guard was like "could you please pull over to the side?" it was like 1:30 am, and I was thinking "yea yea yea, whatever, I'm not drunk dude" but pulled over anyway. he just wanted to check out my car. I was down there for probably 45 minutes just talking about cars, listening to mine idle.

It's good to have those guys as your friends. afterall, they also write traffic tickets on base!

Cute kids. My daughter is about the same age as your son. Arranged marriage of car families?

I was booting WAY too hard one day to meet up with someone who wanted some parts. I pulled into the parking lot where we agreed to meet and not 30 seconds later a cruiser came flying into the parking lot, lights flashing, siren blaring. I was soiling my Fruit-of-the-Looms! Turned out to be a local officer with a 72 340 Chally who thought he'd have a little fun with us in the process of saying "Hi" and checking out Larry's Demon.

Kinda wished he coulda found a different way to say "Hi"!

2 Demons...no, not my kids!

You should go buy a lottery ticket dude! That kind of luck doesn't come around often!

Great story!

I'm not that lucky around here. Young guys, fast/brightly colored cars are a bad combanation!

No tickets for me yet thought!

Here's a funny story for ya! (Not trying to jack this thread!)

A freind of mine has a '75 Valiant 4dr, beige/white, rust bucket that he bought about a week ago (with my help ). Anyhoo him and his brother where driving around town (50,000 people) at 2:30AM . He was stoped by the cops, the cop gets out (having never seen the car in town before) walk up slowly toward the drivers door (my freind had rolled down the window when the red and blue came on) shines the light on the drivers face and says.......Oh it's just you guys!
I thought it was Al-Quadia or something!

Yeah, heh, heh, heh, like really cool.

Did they lay some rubber when they left?

It's always great to hear the latest story of the trusty Mopar initiating new acquaintances. Man, I gotta get my Rr running again, the 80 Doba is invisible in comparison to the 60's/early 70's musclecars.

That's awesome!

I'll bet you weren't expecting that!

I also bet your kids had a blast hanging out with the boys in blue and sitting on their bikes.

Too cool!

My 2 best friends here are Indianapolis police officers and while they both love my car one loves it more than the other as he used to have a Mopar and wants another one.

When he first saw the RR he about pee'd his pants and demanded I take him out across the street from the restaurant we were eating at into an empty lot for a ride. I did just that and tached it out.

The look on his face was like a little boy (only was I can describe it). I let him run it in the parking lot and then we went back to eat and his wife begged for a ride too.

Anyhoo, cops can be cool!

Whenever we are all out together my friends have their police crusiers and we smoke tires side by side at the red lights. Sometimes they get behind me and turn on their lights.... sometimes they turn on their spot-lights on me while we are at stop lights and I make like I'm running from the cops and we're having a police chase.

I don't know what the other people around us (behind us) etc. think when I yell out the window "YOU FREAKING PIGS!!!!" and speed off but I can imagine they think I'm insane and uhhhh maybe their right?

My one friend has pics of him and Rosco P. Coletrain in his police car (Rosco's) and in my friends cop car as well. (Crown Vic) He's a huge Mopar fan. He's gonna pull me over one night and turn on the lights and handcuff me by the RR for a cool sig pic.

My step-son came back from US Marine training a couple of weeks ago. During his absence, he let his musclecar registration and insurance lapse. The urge to drive it after returning was too great. He took the tags off of my wife's car and went for a drive.

In a parking lot, in front of a couple of his friends, he did a smokey burnout, to his chagrin, right in front of a policeman. Of course, the policeman flicked on his lights and came over. He asked my stepson for license and registration. My step-son gave him the license but told him that the car wasn't registered and was honest that he had taken the plates off of his mom's car. The policeman ran his license and after coming back clean he said "I had a car like that once....get that thing home and park it". I thought that was cool of him too.

I live in a town that is notorious for its by-the-book traffic enforcement. That's fine by me, since everyone knows about it, you just have to drive accordingly. Well, one day I was in the 68 Charger and I wasn't driving accordingly - I realized I needed to turn left and I was in the far right lane, so I punched it and cut over three lanes to the turn lane. A motor unit rolls up to me and the guy says "That thing have turn signals?" Uh, yes sir, I tell him. "Well, you might think about using them so nobody hits that nice lookin' car you have there. Have a nice day"

You know, here's the funny thing about it. I knew I was dead in the water as far as getting a ticket, but he let me slide. Now, when I am out driving downtown (where all the enforcement is), I don't even break any laws, even minor ones. Why? Because I would feel like an *ass* after I got treated with some respect, you know, to turn around and drive like a goober. Weird how that works, huh?

A friend of mine used to work for a tow trucking company and was helping the cop clean up the scene of a fatal rollover on ring road in Regina.
Anyway he got his flash light and came over to help the cop (1:30am). Asked the cop what to look for the cop said the guy is missing his wrist watch, so he started looking after about 30 seconds later the cop said "be carefull, it's still on his arm." The cop found it funny...

Nice story. One of our local town officers is in our cruising club. He has a 69 GTO, but I'll forgive him. He'll even break the tires loose every once in a while. I don't expect any of us to get a ticket ever in town anyway.

I got a story also. This past weekend I am installing the brake and fuel hard lines on the Roadrunner. I am completely under the car when I hear the old familiar shout,"hey you want to sell that thing?". I get out from under the car, look up and it's a local town cop in his cruiser. He stops and we chat for about 45 minutes. Says he was looking for a b body. He has 2 Challengers but he really wants a b body. Nice guy. Sounds like they just want to getout of the Crown Vics and into some cool cruisin' machines like the rest of us.

And, I know a few of them that are big car people.. One owns a '70 HEMI Challenger R/T 4-speed car...

Cool that they let the kiddos jump on the bikes as well,,, public relations at it's finest...
